The Manzwine project was built on reviving the historical and winemaking heritage of Cheleiros, as well as preserving Jampal, a nearly extinct Portuguese grape used to produce Dona Fátima, the only wine in the world made entirely from this rare variety.
The visit begins at the Old Olive Press, now the wine shop, with an introduction to the history of the village and the project. The tour continues to the museum, where you will learn about the Lizandro Valley terroir, its influence on the wines, archaeological artifacts over 5,000 years old, and tools once used in traditional winemaking.
At the winery, you will explore the harvest and winemaking processes. In the former school, now the Barrel Room, you will discover the role of oak aging. The experience concludes with The True Essence tasting, featuring six Manzwine wines paired with regional delicacies for a rich gastronomic harmony.
A sensory journey through the history, tradition, and character of Manzwine.
