Quinta do Porto Nogueira | Casa Romana Vini

Quinta do Porto Nogueira dates back to the first half of the 18th century and has always been owned by the same family. Since 2004 it is a Casa Romana Vini Estate. Since 1738 the vineyard has been the main crop of Quinta do Porto Nogueira, where the vines extended through the valleys and plains there. Currently, repurposed and planted on its original terroirs, the vineyard is found around the Main House and the Winery.

The Vineyards
Our vineyards produce in clayey soils, with natural freshness, without irrigation, unique and marked by the influence of a natural microclimate of the Serra de Todo-o-Mundo and by the proximity to the Atlantic sea, about 20 km away. In the 20 hectares of vineyards of Quinta do Porto Nogueira - classified DOC Óbidos - each plot is treated and valued as unique and different, and all our wines are produced with the pleasure and well-being of those who enjoy them in mind.
The natural freshness and salinity are excellent for the production of the white grapes Arinto, Alvarinho, Encruzado, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay and very favorable for the production of the red grapes, especially Pinot Noir and Touriga Nacional.

Winery and Cellars
At Quinta do Porto Nogueira we only vinify our own grapes. The white grapes, after being pressed, fermented in small vats. The varietal white wines and blends of the Reserve category are aged in oak barrels, under fine lees, with batonnage. The red grapes are gently crushed and macerated in wine presses and fermented in small vats.
All our wines are aged in French or American oak barrels from the renowned cooperages Séguin Moreau and JM Gonçalves.

Wine Tourism
Our visitors will get to know a winery in which the traditional and ancestral architecture was respected, equipped with modern technology, structured, and focused on the production of the best wines, in small lots. In the visit to the winery, you will get to know all the stages of transformation, from the vineyard to the bottle. In the end, in our Tasting Room, you can taste a selection of our wines. The Winery of Quinta do Porto Nogueira is open to the public throughout the year, although by appointment.
