Paxá Wines

Located south of Silves, an historical city with a long history of winemaking, Quinta do Outeiro has 13 hectares of vineyard planted in a special "terroir", of calcareous clay soil, influenced by the proximity of the sea, sun exposure and microclimates.

"Paxá" is the ancient name given to the Governors of a Province during the Ottoman Empire. In the West, it matches the title of "Excellence".

Founded in 2008 by Joaquim Lopes, agronomist with more than 30 years of experience, Paxá Wines is the fulfilment of an old passion aiming to reach the full winemaking potential of this region. The first wine to hit the market was Paxá Red 2007, an intense and fruited wine, with six months of maturation on French oak barrels.

Visits to the estate begin in the cellar where visitors get to know the wine production processes, as well as Paxá history. It is followed by a walk on the vineyard to the “monte” where we can find the wine tasting room, inside a typical house from Algarve, with more than 80 years old.
