Herdade dos Templários

The Herdade dos Templários is a family winery, dedicated to the production and sales of high-quality wines, since 1989, in Valdonas (about 3 km from Tomar historic centre) and inserted in Tejo wine region.

Visit Tomar is dive into the Templar's history and also into the winemaking history, that exists here for centuries. Tomar is a Tejo sub-region, in Tejo river north, composed by hills rich in clay-limestone soils and shale deposits. In our vineyards, you will find the aromatic Fernão Pires or the vivacious Arinto for the white wines and the "queen" Touriga Nacional or the traditional Castelão for the red wines, among other noble national and international castes. The wines we produce are our tribute to this Templar City that, harvest after harvest, cheer us with great quality grapes and wines.

The vines are planted in the deep soil of schist origin and clay-limestone, dry to the surface and rich in water in the transition to the subsoil. They are equipped with drop by drop irrigation to control the stress level of the water. The vineyards have conduction systems that guarantee the sun exposure and aeration required for more balanced maturation and high-quality grapes, based on a selection of the best national, regional, and international grape varieties.

We suggest that you book an experience with 5 days in advance, at least. The visit passes by the vineyards, where we explain the vine cycle, the different grape varieties types and the “terroir”; then we head to the winery, where we show you all the steps from the grapes to the bottling. After, it's time to experience a commented wine tasting of 4 wines (white, red, rosé, and liqueur) in an informal and interactive environment. The visits last an average of 1h30.

Come to Herdade dos Templários and let yourself be immersed by the wonders of Tejo wines!
