About the Activity
Located at the foot of the hill of Monsaraz and near Lake Alqueva, São Lourenço do Barrocal is centered around a historic Alentejo estate that has been carefully restored and transformed into an understated luxury hotel, surrounded by vineyards, holm oaks, and centuries-old olive trees. The property has remained in the same family for more than two hundred years.

The estate’s winery is one of the pillars of the project, producing wines of excellence under its own label. The grapes, carefully selected and harvested by hand, give rise to limited editions that reflect the character of the terroir. After vinification, the wines age in French oak barrels, gaining complexity and elegance.

The experience invites visitors to discover the estate through a guided tour of the property and winery, exploring the wine world of São Lourenço do Barrocal. The visit concludes with an introductory tasting of five wines, revealing the methods, philosophy, and identity behind the estate’s wines.
