Herdade do Menir

Herdade do Menir is an extensive wine estate located in Silveiras, in the heart of Alentejo, with approximately 100 hectares devoted to the cultivation of vineyards. The region's unique conditions, with fertile soils and a Mediterranean climate, provide an ideal terroir for producing high quality wines.

In 1988, Herdade do Menir took its first steps into the world of viticulture through the hands of Gabriel Dias and his family, who marked this milestone with the first sale of grapes produced on the property. Only two years later, in 1990, the winery was built, allowing Herdade do Menir to vinify its own grapes and start developing its signature wines.

The first harvest was in 1991, and the first wine was produced in 1993, under the Couteiro-Mor trademark, which symbolized the achievement of a dream and the start of a winemaking tradition, that remains to this day.

In 2012, Herdade do Menir was acquired by a family from the Algarve, who assumed the leadership of the property and all its brands. It was in this context that the BR - Barão Rodrigues wine brand was born, standing out for its quality and the production of Reserve wines, Traditional Single Varietals, and Limited Editions, each with unique and exclusive features.

Since then, Herdade do Menir has dedicated its efforts to producing high quality wines. Over the years, it has modernized the equipment used in winemaking, adopting state-of-the-art technologies, that guarantee greater efficiency. Each wine produced reflects this duality, where past and future meet, keeping tradition alive, both in the heart, and in the glass.

In 2022, the Dom Gabriel brand was rebranded and developed, strongly inspired by the traditional Portuguese tiles, which embellish the Herdade do Menir. This new concept aimed to capture the essence of Portuguese culture and art, reflecting the rich history and authenticity of the region, bringing the beauty and tradition, that permeate the wines of Herdade do Menir.
