About the Activity
Located in Santa Marta de Penaguião, Horta Osório Wines combines three centuries of family history with the modern vision of Menin Wine Company. The estate spans 55 hectares in Baixo Corgo, featuring traditional old vineyards. The Pontão and Osórios estates benefit from a unique terroir of schist soils and a mild climate, ideal for producing elegant wines. Situated along the iconic N2 road, this winery is a landmark of authenticity in the heart of the Douro.

The winery is a masterpiece of innovative architecture that follows the natural slope of the terrain. Designed by architects Frederico Valsassina and João Horta Osório, it features a tasting room with stunning views over the Douro and the Marão Mountains. We invite you to discover this avant-garde space on a guided tour that includes an animated presentation about the region and local grape varieties. Finally, enjoy a tasting of four wines, paired with a platter of cheeses, cured meats, and exclusive H.O. olive oil.

    “great wine tour at HO winery” We had an amazing tour and wine tasting with Cliff! He explained the Duoro region in general to us, then provided the specifics about the Adega Horta Osorio winery. We observed the winery workers operating the equipment to strip the grapes from the stems, and saw the fermentation room and beautiful wine cellar full of casks of wine - quite an extensive and interesting tour, and Cliff was very personable and knowledgeable.
