Quinta da Vacaria

Quinta da Vacaria, located in the Douro region, has a rich history dating back to before 1613, the year it was acquired by Gaspar de Sousa and later donated by his brother, Friar Luís Álvares de Távora, to become part of the assets of the Society of Jesus in 1616. Over the centuries, the estate expanded and was consolidated, strengthening its strong agricultural tradition with vineyards, olive groves, a chapel, and winemaking facilities.

Today, the estate combines this centuries-old legacy with modernity through the recent opening of the Hotel da Quinta da Vacaria, a project focused on tourism and exceptional hospitality. This modern complex houses the FUMUS restaurant and an innovative Interpretation Center located inside the magnificent winery. In this museum space with a welcoming atmosphere and views of the Douro River, visitors can explore the estate’s history, terroir, grape varieties, and wines through illuminated panels and an interactive table. This entire journey culminates in an invitation to a cultural, educational, and sensory experience, where visitors can connect with the world of wine through tastings and authentic local cuisine.
