Visit Palácio da Bacalhôa, in São Simão, Azeitão, Setúbal, and discover a privileged landscape marked by history and art, whose legacy dates back to the founders of the Avis Dynasty.
The architecture, decoration, and gardens of the Palace were shaped over the centuries by its different owners, inspired by their travels through Europe, Africa and the Orient, and by their passion for art and patronage. The result is a true jewel of Portuguese heritage.
Both inside and outside, the harmony between art, tiles, and nature is remarkable. The walls are adorned with 15th and 16th century tiles of Moorish inspiration, and next to the lake house stands the first dated tile in Portugal.
During the visit, you will admire exclusive pieces from a private art collection, stroll through the gardens and vineyards, and at the end, take part in the D. Carlos I Tasting, featuring five Bacalhôa wines: Aliança Grande Reserva Sparkling, Berardo Reserva Familiar White, Berardo Reserva Familiar Red, Berardo Reserva Familiar 2007 and Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal 20 Years. The tasting is accompanied by Azeitão cheese and dried fruits.
Behind every great wine, there is always a great story.
