Visit Palácio da Bacalhôa, in São Simão, Azeitão, Setúbal, and discover a privileged landscape marked by history and art, whose legacy dates back to the founders of the Avis Dynasty.
The architecture, decoration, and gardens of the Palace were shaped over the centuries by its various owners, inspired by their travels through Europe, Africa, and the Orient, and by their passion for surrounding themselves with artists and unique works. The result is a singular jewel of Portuguese heritage.
The interior and exterior spaces reveal a harmonious combination of art, tiles, and nature. The walls are covered with Portuguese tiles from the 15th and 16th centuries, of Moorish inspiration, and next to the lake house lies the first dated tile in Portugal.
During the visit, you will admire pieces from a private art collection, stroll through the gardens and vineyards, and at the end take part in the Bacalhôa Tasting, featuring four wines: Bacalhôa Greco di Tufo White, Quinta da Bacalhôa White, Bacalhôa Syrah Red and Quinta da Bacalhôa Red. The tasting is accompanied by Azeitão cheese and dried fruits.
Behind every great wine, there is always a great story.
