Visit the winery, museum and Palácio da Bacalhôa.
At Quinta da Bassaqueira, in Azeitão, Setúbal, lies the headquarters of Bacalhôa, where Wine, Art and Nature come together in a unique experience. The art collections are divided into three thematic areas, featuring pieces of great historical and cultural value.
From the ancient olive trees brought from the Alqueva dam to the winery gardens, to the interior spaces, the tour is a continuous journey between tradition and modernity. During the visit, you will learn the basic steps of wine tasting and enjoy the view over the Japanese Garden, which features sculptures by Niizuma and the Kaki tree, a descendant of the only tree that survived the Nagasaki bomb.
After visiting the winery and museum, explore the Palácio da Bacalhôa, a place of rare beauty with a history linked to the Avis Dynasty. Transportation between the winery and the palace is the visitor’s responsibility. Between the interior and the gardens, admire the architecture, the decoration and the vineyards, leading to the lake house, where the first dated tile in Portugal can be found.
Behind every great wine, there is always a great story.
