1. The Service Provided by Portugal by Wine
The Portugal by Wine platform operates online as a website for the promotion and booking of leisure activities related to the wine tourism and gastronomy sector in Portugal. The activities are provided by partners (service providers), namely tour operators, wineries, estates and restaurants, with offerings located exclusively in Portuguese territory.
The service provided by Portugal by Wine to users is free of charge. No additional fee is charged on top of the booking value.
By making a booking on the platform, the user enters into a direct contractual relationship with the service provider responsible for the activity. Portugal by Wine acts solely as an intermediary in this process and assumes no contractual responsibility regarding the agreement established between the user and the partner.
2. User Registration
To make bookings, submit "Design Your Trip" (Tailor-Made) experience requests or contact partners through the messaging centre, users must register on the platform and provide the requested personal data.
2.1 Security and reCAPTCHA
To ensure data security and prevent unauthorised automated access, the platform uses Google reCAPTCHA technology in all registration forms, newsletter subscriptions, contact forms and personalised requests.
2.2 User Responsibility
The user is responsible for the accuracy and currency of the data provided, as well as for all activity carried out under their account. During registration, the user must accept the conditions described herein, confirming that they have read and understood them. The user may cancel their account at any time, at their own initiative, without any consideration or penalty.
3. Content Responsibility
3.1 Information relating to partners and their service offerings is the sole responsibility of the partners themselves, namely the informative texts, activity descriptions, photographs, prices and translations into the other languages of the platform.
3.2 Partners undertake to ensure that the information provided is always true, accurate and up to date, and may be held liable for customer claims based on alleged inaccuracies.
3.3 Portugal by Wine undertakes to verify and validate the information submitted by partners on the platform. However, it shall not be held liable for its accuracy or authenticity.
3.4 Itineraries (Tours and Cruises)
Within the Tours and Cruises categories, a detailed visual Itinerary (Day-by-Day) section may be made available, along with the option to download the corresponding PDF. This content is provided for informational purposes only, with intellectual property remaining with Portugal by Wine.
3.5 Rating and Ranking System
Star ratings are visible on the results page and on each experience page. After the experience has taken place, users may comment on the activity. Comments are sorted by date of submission and include an automatic translation tool. Portugal by Wine reserves the right to remove comments containing offensive, false or defamatory language, or which infringe third-party rights.
3.6 Copyright
The information available on the platform contains material and trademarks protected by copyright legislation. Users may not modify, publish or exploit the content, in whole or in part, without express authorisation.
4. Booking Process
The Portugal by Wine platform operates two booking models. The applicable model is clearly identified on the activity page (under the "Booking Type" field), in the checkout page title and in the payment information notes.
4.1 Bookings Subject to Confirmation (Booking Request)
The booking is made subject to confirmation by the partner, who has 48 hours to validate it. The submission of the request does not guarantee the booking until the final confirmation email is received. If the request is accepted, the contract becomes valid and the user receives a confirmation email which serves as a voucher. At checkout, this model is identified by the title "Booking Request".
Should the partner fail to confirm the request within the stated period, the bank pre-authorisation is automatically released and the user is informed by email of the non-confirmation.
4.2 Instant Confirmation Bookings
Bookings are automatically accepted and confirmed by the system. The user receives an immediate confirmation/voucher email. At checkout, this model is identified by the title "Complete Booking".
Note: Should the number of people selected exceed the automatic acceptance limit defined by the partner, the system will automatically convert the request into the "Subject to Confirmation" model.
4.3 Special Booking Conditions and Extras
Discounts may apply for groups or children, always indicated on the activity page. When adding extra services, the system validates the minimum and maximum number of participants allowed for each item.
4.4 Gift Experiences (Gift Voucher)
Users may purchase an activity to offer as a gift, via the "Gift" button. Under this model, the buyer selects the number of people and personalises the voucher, but does not select the date on which the experience will take place. Scheduling is the exclusive responsibility of the voucher beneficiary and Portugal by Wine, under the terms set out below.
4.4.1 Purchase and Personalisation
At the time of purchase, the user may add extra services where available, include a personalised message with emojis, and schedule the exact date and time for the digital voucher to be sent to the recipient. The checkout flow and confirmation communications refer strictly to the purchase of a Gift Voucher, and are clearly distinct from a booking with a set date.
4.4.2 Validity
The validity period for scheduling the voucher is 6 (six) months from the date of purchase. This period refers exclusively to the scheduling of the experience with Portugal by Wine, and not to the actual date on which the experience takes place, which may occur at a later moment depending on partner availability.
4.4.3 Scheduling
The scheduling of the experience associated with the voucher is carried out exclusively by email (
[email protected]), in order to ensure formal registration of the request. Telephone contact remains available for general enquiries. It is not possible to schedule the experience directly with the partner.
The scheduling request must be made with a minimum of 8 (eight) days' notice in relation to the desired date for the experience. Requests submitted with less notice may not be accepted, or shall be subject to exceptional availability from the partner.
The date requested by the beneficiary is always subject to confirmation of availability by the partner. Portugal by Wine undertakes to liaise with the partner and confirm the booking, or to propose alternative dates, as promptly as possible.
4.4.4 Unavailability and Substitution
Should the experience included in the voucher be unavailable on the requested date, or permanently unavailable (due to partner closure, change in their offering or any other circumstance attributable to the partner), Portugal by Wine reserves the right to substitute it with an experience of similar quality, content and value, without entitling the beneficiary to any refund.
4.4.5 Expiry and No-Show
After the 6-month period has elapsed without the beneficiary having requested scheduling, the voucher expires and there shall be no right to refund, extension or conversion into credit, unless otherwise expressly decided by Portugal by Wine.
In the event of a no-show, or cancellation by the beneficiary with less than 48 hours' notice in relation to the scheduled date, the voucher shall be considered used, with no right to rescheduling or refund.
4.4.6 Date Change by the Beneficiary
The scheduled date may be changed once, free of charge, provided that the request is made with more than 48 hours' notice in relation to the booked date and is subject to partner availability. Further changes shall be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
4.5 Booking Lead Time
The minimum lead time for bookings with a set date is 48 hours. The calendar automatically blocks dates falling below this threshold. Bookings cannot be made with more than 1 (one) year's advance notice.
5. Prices and Payment
Prices include all applicable taxes and charges, unless otherwise stated on the activity page.
5.1 Price Types
Prices are displayed per person or per package, as indicated for each activity.
5.2 Bank Pre-Authorisation
For requests subject to confirmation, the system places a pre-authorisation hold on the user's card or account. The amount is only effectively debited following partner confirmation. Should the request not be confirmed, the hold is automatically released. The time taken for the amount to be returned to the user's account may vary depending on the user's bank. This information is reinforced next to the payment fields at checkout.
5.3 Currency
All prices shown on the platform are in euros (EUR). Any currency conversion applied by banks or payment providers shall be the user's responsibility.
6. Cancellation and Change Policy
6.1 All cancellations must be carried out through the platform or by communication to Portugal by Wine, respecting the individual policy of the partner associated with each activity.
6.2 Processing Fee
If the cancellation is initiated by the user and meets the applicable refund criteria, the full amount shall be refunded less a 5% processing fee. This fee is intended to cover operational costs and financial charges retained by payment gateways, which are non-recoverable by the platform.
6.3 Cancellation by the Partner
Should the cancellation be initiated by the partner, the refund shall be full (100%), with no fee applied.
6.4 Refund Timeframe
Refunds shall be processed within a maximum of 30 days, using the same payment method as the original transaction.
6.5 Date Changes
Requests to change the date of confirmed bookings are subject to partner availability and to the partner's policy. Whenever possible, Portugal by Wine will seek to accommodate the request, with no guarantee of acceptance.
6.6 No-Show
In the event of a no-show by the user at the scheduled date and time, without prior notice within the period defined by the partner's policy, the booking shall be considered used and no refund or rescheduling shall be granted.
7. Design Your Trip (Tailor-Made)
Users may request a personalised programme through the dedicated form, indicating preferences such as regions, budget range, age group, wine profile and type of wineries, so that Portugal by Wine may design a tailored proposal.
The submission of a tailor-made request does not constitute a booking or a contractual commitment. The process begins with the analysis of the request by Portugal by Wine, followed by the presentation of a personalised proposal. The booking shall only be considered confirmed upon the client's express acceptance of the proposal and corresponding payment, in full or in part, as agreed.
8. Direct Messages and Online Chat
8.1 The Message Centre enables users to exchange information with partners.
8.2 Security
The system automatically blocks the sending of direct contacts (telephone or email) through the messages. Within the Tours and Cruises categories, the partner's identity may remain hidden during the conversation.
8.3 Customer Support
Portugal by Wine provides customer support via email, telephone and Online Chat (WhatsApp). Responses from the administration are identified as "Portugal by Wine".
