In this experience, we invite you to discover the art of grape harvesting with a special program at the Adega José de Sousa, owned by José Maria da Fonseca, located in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Évora. This activity is seasonal and takes place annually, between late August and early September.
The Adega José de Sousa is unique in the world, keeping alive a tradition started by the Romans more than 2000 years ago, and is equipped with 114 clay amphoras, an ancient and very rare fermentation method. Besides the traditional cellar below ground level, with the amphoras and two wine presses for treading, you will also visit the modern cellar with 44 stainless steel tanks and all the indispensable technology for the fermentation of reds and whites. The ideal place to see how innovation and tradition are combined, and to learn more about exceptional wines.
The harvest program includes a visit to the Adega Nova and Adega dos Potes, with participation in the ongoing harvest activities. To finish this activity, you will enjoy a lunch of regional delicacies, accompanied by José de Sousa wines.
