Quinta de Ventozelo

Located at the left bank of Douro river, in Ervedosa, Quinta de Ventozelo is one of the most beautiful and impressive wine houses from this region. It is known as “Douro’s silent doors”, where time seems to go by slower. Tranquillity and connection to nature are the main focus of this wine house.

Quinta de Ventozelo’s unique geography gives us numerous possibilities to explore the area. It is mainly occupied by a big diversity of fauna and flora. It is important to mention the production of olive oil, honey, fruit, and cork. Nevertheless, wine production is the most important.

The unique soil and weather conditions in Ventozelo make the perfect combination for excellent wine production. A great stretch of land on the bank of Douro river with about 200 hectares and more than half a million vines.

To produce the best wines, we have to understand the environment and adapt the best drills. Each Ventozelo wine preserves the essence of that place, elegantly and balanced.

In 2014, Quinta de Ventozelo was bought by Gran Cruz, the biggest Port wine exporting company in Portugal, which had been using its grapes since 2011. Gran Cruz looks forward to increasing the value of the property by betting on the production of olive oil, wine tourism and nature tourism.

The main focus is to preserve and to privilege the simplicity, the genuineness and the authenticity of Ventozelo.
