About the Activity
Czar Winery, located in São Roque do Pico, is a family-run winery that aims to preserve Pico's unfortified wine history by producing high-quality wines that reflect the island's unique terroir. A legacy of the teacher José Duarte Garcia, continued by his son, Fortunato Garcia. Its vineyards are located in Criação Velha, recognised, in 2004, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its extraordinary landscape, representing an excellent example of the adaptation of agricultural practices in a remote and challenging environment.

We invite you to take part in a guided tour at Czar Winery, where you'll learn about the unique characteristics of Pico wine, the history of Czar wine, and the entire winemaking process. During the tour, you will, also, discover how the volcanic soil, climate, and altitude influence the quality of the grapes and the profile of the wines. At the end, you'll have the opportunity to taste 2 wines (years 2011 and 2013) or 1 premium wine (years 2013, 2014 or 2015) and, get to know the particularities that give each wine its authentic flavour.

Enjoy breathtaking scenery and wines of excellence.

Highlights:
  • Guided tour at Czar Winery;
  • Tasting of 2 wines (years 2011 and 2013) or 1 premium wine (years 2013, 2014 or 2015).
