Solar da Pena

Solar da Pena is a family estate, founded in the 14th century, focussed on the production of excellent Vinhos Verdes wines.

Located in verdant Minho and part of the Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region, the manor is in the heart of the Cávado sub-region, where the vineyards are planted, with the oldest dating back to 2001.

To enter Solar da Pena is to immerse yourself in the history of Portugal. Its origins are lost in time. It was founded shortly after the Battle of Salado and was home to a number of notable personalities from the Portuguese medieval chivalry. Legend has it that the manor was donated to Archbishop Gonçalo Pereira, grandfather of Nuno Álvares Pereira.

It currently has 30 hectares of vineyards, where grapes are produced in harmony with nature, spread over four plots: Solar Da Pena, Quinta da Ombra, Quinta das Areias and Quinta de Moure, the latter being the oldest vineyard.
