Quinta de la Rosa
Quinta de la Rosa is situated in Northern Portugal, 100 kms inland from Porto. It is set in the heart of the Alto Douro ‘A’ grade port growing area and is located along the banks of the river, near Pinhão.
Quinta de la Rosa has been in the Bergqvist family since 1906, although they have been in the port trade as shippers under the family name, Feueheerd, since 1815. It currently has around 55 hectares under vine and produces around 50,000 litres of port and 160,000 litres of table wine each year.
Quinta de la Rosa has recently gone through a complete refurbishment of all its wine and port making facilities. This project had been in the design phase for over 7 years, construction finally started in December 2011 and was completed in August 2012, one week before the harvest started.
Quinta de la Rosa also shares a winery in Sabrosa with our sister vineyard Quinta das Banderias and their range of Passagem wines. The Sabrosa facility has a bottling line, an additional [14] fermentation tanks and presses.
All the ports at la Rosa are foot trodden, and some of our Reserve table wines also undergo a cold maceration in the mills before being transferred to stainless steel fermentation tanks.
Quinta de la Rosa gives you the unique opportunity to stay amongst a working vineyard and winery on the banks of the river Douro.
