Casa Lata

Located in the heart of Minho, Casa Lata - Agroturismo is inserted in a rural property with about 3,6 hectares in Amares, between Braga (12 kms) and the National Park of Peneda Gerês (30 kms), in the north of Portugal.

An old house from Minho, it has been recently restored, keeping the original architecture and the comfort of its rooms and leisure areas. The main house has 10 double rooms and 4 twin rooms, all with private bathroom, air conditioning, cable TV and free Wi-Fi. Guests can also enjoy common spaces such as lounge, games room with billiards and table games, outdoor swimming pool for adults and children and numerous green spaces.

The leafy trees surrounding the house, which range from secular olive trees to the typical orange trees of the region, provide the freshness of the shadows and the pleasure of the sweet aromas and flavours of its fruits, used in the breakfast, namely the homemade cakes, the natural orange juice and the varied jams.

It has the history of a Minho country house where its people dedicated themselves to agriculture, cattle breeding, vineyards and wine. As landmarks of these activities, the granary, the wine press, the alembic and numerous farming tools have survived to this day. The decoration and the furniture respect environments from other times, preserving the characteristics of the rural and pleasant environment, proof of this is the living room that once used to be the wine cellar, where the wine was made in the stone press, which is still in its original place today.

In this atmosphere of tradition associated to life in the countryside, there is now a modern winery where the wine is made from the grape varieties of the Vinhos Verdes region between the rivers Cávado and Homem.

Currently, it is José Carlos Costa and his family who give life to this project that became possible after the reconstruction of the house that in the past belonged to his uncles, Family Pereira Lata, to whom we also want to pay homage and dedicate this project.
