Adega de Cantanhede

Founded in 1954 by a group of 100 winegrowers, Adega de Cantanhede now has 500 active member winegrowers and an annual grape production of 6 to 7 million kilograms, making it the leading producer in the Bairrada Demarcated Region, accounting for approximately 40% of the region’s total production. Today, it certifies approximately 80% of its production and is the clear leader in sales of DOC Bairrada and IGP Beira Atlântico wines.

Recognizing the intense competition in the domestic and international markets, the qualitative evolution of its wines is the result of state-of-the-art technology, with a focus on quality and food safety, as well as the promotion of the traditional Bairrada grape varieties—Baga, Bical, and Maria Gomes—and other Portuguese varieties that find an ideal terroir in Bairrada — Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, and Arinto.

Its portfolio includes a wide range of products. In red, white, and rosé, its wines range from table wines to premium wines, complemented by a vast selection of sparkling wines produced exclusively using the Classic Method, as well as brandies and fortified wines.

His reputation as a producer, as well as that of his wines and brands, has been consistently confirmed and reinforced by the awards he has accumulated, resulting in more than 1,250 accolades from the most prestigious national and international competitions, as well as the “Best Cooperative Winery of the Year” award in Portugal, awarded three times by the wine press.
