The origins of the Palace of Anadia, in Mangualde, date back to the late 16th century, when it was known as Casa dos Paes do Amaral. The estate was expanded from 1644 by Gaspar Paes do Amaral, Captain-Major of Mangualde, becoming one of the most important manor houses in the region.
In the early 19th century, following the marriage of Manuel Paes do Amaral de Almeida e Vasconcelos Quifel Barbarino with D. Maria Luiza de Sá Pereira de Menezes de Mello Sottomayor, 3rd Countess of Anadia, the property became known as the Palace of Anadia. Throughout its history, the palace welcomed several notable figures, including Marshal Massena and the kings D. Luís I and D. Carlos I.
The experience invites visitors to discover the Palace of the Counts of Anadia, exploring the Baroque architecture and the atmosphere of an 18th-century manor house. The program also includes a visit to the historic gardens, where vineyards play a central role, followed by a stop at the Barrel Cellar and a tasting of three wines in the estate’s historic wine cellar.
