Monte da Raposinha

Monte da Raposinha is located in Montargil, in the northern Alentejo, is one of the region’s most known in Portugal for the high-quality wines, being in the property of the Ataíde family, since the end of 19th century.

As a child, Rosário Ataíde, the current owner, was lovingly called “Raposinha” by her father. So the wine estate and some wines were named “Raposinha” as a tribute for the father and the whole family.

Positioned near to the Montargil dam and flanked by the Sôr river, the fertility of Monte da Raposinha's land discovered in 2007, the date of the first harvest, by the hand of Rosário and Nuno Ataíde, the achievement of new dreams and challenges.

Initially, an exciting experience comprising only 2 hectares, this has now fully grown into a mature project of 12 hectares of its own vineyard. The production divides between red and white wines and João Nuno, one of Rosário’s sons, is in charge of the management because he has a lot of passion for this wine sector.

As a result, Monte da Raposinha has naturally evolved from the leisurely family’s holiday spot to a true viticulture challenge and wine production project.

Monte da Raposinha and its producers are keen on developing and further exploring this project. Step by step, a sense of distinction and precision is ever-present in the search and creation of unique products that can present remarkable quality at every level, positively impacting all who come to taste it.
