Lusovini
The history of a wine company, often begins before its formal constitution: this was the case with Lusovini.
This project is based on many generations connected to the sector, which, through their descendants, see their passion for wine continued today. Lusovini's partners are recreating this heritage by requalifying old vines, planting new vineyards, building new wineries, and trying to be innovative in wine tourism. Our challenge is to put into bottles all the richness, of this extraordinary wine-growing country that is Portugal.
Portugal has wine regions so different that Lusovini, taking advantage of the Dão, quickly expanded to the regions of Bairrada, Douro, Alentejo and Vinhos Verdes. The truth is that the ensemble overcame the sum of the parts, the whole made a difference. The company celebrated this by adopting a brand-new name: Lusovini - Vinhos de Portugal, its current designation.
In the course of its process of transforming the wine-growing potential of Portugal, Lusovini has internationalized, creating businesses in Europe, Africa, South America, North America, and Asia. In the geography of these four continents has established support operation companies to their customers, ensuring that wines are well stored, served and drank under optimal conditions.
Lusovini strives to provide an integrated service to wholesalers, local retail stores, hotels, and restaurants. But it also addresses the different groups of final consumers, showing them how wines can fit in their everyday life and give it the grace that it would not exist without them.
In Nelas, Viseu, the wineries Lusovini are open every day of the week. In these spaces, there are several programs ranging from the interactive visit, wine tastings, pairings with traditional flavours, wine dinners and other punctual initiatives that Lusovini will create to give to know their wines and their projects.
Wine tastings are all the memory of Dão: They are genuine wines, with a strong regional identity, despite the "refining" that characterize them. They are wines of identity with various varieties and different ages of vines. Fine wines, sometimes dried, in the case of whites. But also others who are fragrant, despite the intense mineral character that binds them all. As for Reds, there is a certain aromatic austerity – less evident in the case of Touriga Nacional – and strong tannins, structure to last for decades. The tastings are available every day for anyone visiting the Pedra Cancela – Lusovini Wine Center.
