Quinta da Pacheca
Founded in the 16th century and recorded in wine documents since 1738, Quinta da Pacheca was one of the first estates in the Douro to bottle wine under its own name. Located in Lamego, on the southern bank of the Douro river opposite Peso da Régua, the Quinta combines historic heritage with one of the most innovative wine tourism offers in the country.
The estate covers around 75 hectares of vineyards planted on schist terraces. It grows traditional Douro grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão, as well as white varieties including Viosinho, Gouveio and Rabigato. Winemaking combines traditional methods (foot-treading in granite lagares) with modern technology.
Among the most recognised wines are Pacheca Grande Reserva, Pacheca Reserva, Pacheca Superior, Pacheca Vinhas Velhas and the Tawny and Vintage Ports. The estate regularly wins awards at international competitions.
The wine tourism experience at Quinta da Pacheca is among the most distinctive in the Douro. Beyond the cellar visit and wine tasting, the estate offers the Wine House Hotel and the iconic Wine Barrel rooms, suites shaped like wine barrels with views over the vineyards, considered by international publications among the most original accommodation experiences in the world. The property also features a restaurant with regional cuisine, wine pairings and seasonal activities such as grape treading during the harvest.
