The Dão Wine Region is characterized by a plateau surrounded by several mountain ranges, with vineyards planted between 400 and 700 meters above sea level. Its unique soil, climate, and grape varieties give rise to wines of great elegance and character, recognized for their freshness and aging potential.
Often referred to as the Portuguese Burgundy, the Dão produces velvety and structured red wines with excellent acidity and longevity, as well as aromatic, fresh, and well-balanced white wines.
This tour invites you to discover the Dão through visits to two renowned wine estates. The first is one of the oldest and most emblematic wineries in the region, where you will taste its wines, explore historic vineyards with nearly two centuries of history, and gain insight into the strong connection between tradition and terroir. The experience continues with a traditional regional lunch, featuring iconic dishes such as vitela à Dão Lafões or oven-roasted kid goat.
After lunch, the tour proceeds to a second winery that represents the modern face of the Dão, whether through its architecture, equipment, or winemaking methods, offering a complementary perspective on the region.
The experience concludes with the return to the starting point in Coimbra, after a day dedicated to the wines, gastronomy, and identity of the Dão.
