About the Activity
On Pico Island, where vineyards grow between basalt stone walls shaped by lava, a unique Azorean wine and food identity was born. This route invites you to explore the Protected Landscape of Vineyard Culture, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, while traveling through volcanic scenery rich in history and resilience.

Throughout the day, visit the Vineyard Culture Interpretation Center, the Wine Museum, and the historic vineyard areas of Santa Luzia and Criação Velha. The program includes a traditional distillery visit with liqueur and spirit tasting, a regional tasting lunch, and a wine tasting at Pico Island’s Cooperative Winery. An experience that blends authentic flavors, tradition, and unforgettable landscapes.

  • 10:00 a.m - Beginning of the Tour in Madalena do Pico;
  • Interpretation Centre of Vine Culture landscape of Pico Island;
  • Santa Luzia - guided visit to the protected Vineyard landscape (north zone);
  • Liqueurs and brandies tasting with guided visit to the alambique;
  • 13:00 p.m - Regional Lunch;
  • Guided visit to the Museu do Vinho;
  • Tasting of Pico wines at Adega Cooperativa da Ilha do Pico;
  • Criação Velha - guided visit to the protected Vineyard landscape (south zone);
  • Tasting of handcrafted liqueurs;
  • 18:30 p.m - Return to Madalena do Pico.
