About the Activity
The origins of the Palace of Anadia, in Mangualde, date back to the late 16th century, when it was known as Casa dos Paes do Amaral. The estate was expanded from 1644 by Gaspar Paes do Amaral, Captain-Major of Mangualde, becoming one of the most important manor houses in the region.

In the early 19th century, following the marriage of Manuel Paes do Amaral de Almeida e Vasconcelos Quifel Barbarino, 10th Lord of the House of Mangualde, with D. Maria Luiza de Sá Pereira de Menezes de Mello Sottomayor, 3rd Countess of Anadia, the estate became known as the Palace of Anadia. Throughout its history, the palace welcomed notable figures such as Marshal Massena and the kings D. Luís I and D. Carlos I.

The experience invites visitors to discover the historic gardens of the Palace of the Counts of Anadia, where a unique landscape stands out: a 10-hectare vineyard set within a walled estate of 50 hectares. The visit continues with a stop at the Barrel Cellar and ends with a tasting of three wines in the historic wine cellar of the manor house.
