About the Activity

Founded in 1859, Cálem is one of the most prestigious and visited Port Wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, welcoming around 310,000 visitors each year from all over the world. Balancing the tradition of Port Wine with new technologies, Cálem invites guests to discover the Douro Demarcated Region in an engaging and accessible way.

The guided visit takes place through the active cellars and the interactive museum, where the wine cycle is presented, from soil and grape varieties to the different categories, aromas, and styles, as well as key moments from Cálem’s history. Along the route, visitors can observe the barrels where the wines age and understand the unique characteristics of each type of Port Wine. The experience concludes with a guided tasting of three Port wines, accompanied by chocolates and cheeses.

An engaging experience for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of the tradition of Port Wine.

“Vino bueno, poca explicación ” Hicimos la cata de vinos con maridaje de quesos y chocolate. La chica que nos enseñó la bodega y el museo fue muy amable, pero me pareció muy poco rato y muy rápido para todo lo que tenía que decir.
