About the Activity
In this luxury wine and food tour, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite you to discover the Alentejo Wine Region.

The 3 days and 2 nights programme, includes a visit to renowned Alentejo estates, where you will taste the best wines, gastronomy and have unforgettable wine tourism experiences. 

The tour starts with a pick-up from the Humberto Delgado Airport, hotels or Lisbon city centre. You will be accompanied by a chauffeur specialized in wine tourism, and the entire journey will be made in a top-of-the-range vehicle. 

After the pick-up, the journey towards the Alentejo will be full of breathtaking landscapes, where you will appreciate the peculiar natural beauty of this route.

The activities will begin at the Adega Santa Vitória, where the most advanced winemaking technologies are combined with the advantages of traditional techniques, preserving, for example, a treading press and the manual harvest. On the guided tour, you will get to know the winery, where you will follow the wine-making process and stroll through the vineyards. At the end, you will do a premium wine tasting, accompanied by a basket of bread and Santa Vitória olive oil. Lunch, regional and a suggestion of the Chef, will be served in the restaurant of the Vila Galé Clube de Campo hotel (in front of the winery) and will be harmonized with the wines from the Adega Santa Vitória.

In the afternoon, you will participate in a fun and educational activity at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, located in Albernôa, in the heart of Baixo Alentejo. Malhadinha is a wine estate that is lost in the boundless horizon, where high quality wines are produced and indigenous breeds of animals are raised, in total harmony with nature. In this experience, you will learn how to define a blend, get to know the grape varieties used in Malhadinha wines and develop your own personalized bottle. At the end, you can bring your wine with you. After the activity, in the Malhadinha restaurant, known for its signature cuisine, inspired by typical dishes from the Alentejo and recreated by a Michelin-starred chef, you will taste dinner, in a 4-course menu, suggested by the chef, and paired with the Malhadinha wines.

After dinner, it will be time to stay overnight at the Vila Galé Clube de Campo hotel, located near Beja. The hotel offers a unique concept, combining rural tourism, wine tourism and different activities linked to ecotourism. The architecture and decoration are inspired by the landscape and the tradition of the Alentejo. In this hotel you can enjoy the outdoor swimming pools, tennis court, bar, spa with indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath, gym, massage rooms, and free wi-fi in all areas.

Day 2
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, with the best regional products from Alentejo, our guide will pick you up and take you through the 2nd day of this tour.

The activities will begin at Quinta do Carmo. You will discover the wine production centre where all the Alentejo wines produced by Bacalhôa Group are made. The garden, outside the house, appears over a vast plain of vineyards. Inside, and after a detailed visit to the production area, you will enjoy a Quinta do Carmo wine tasting. 

Lunch, will be at Ribafreixo Wines, an innovative, forward-thinking and ambitious company, operating in the heart of the Alentejo region, located in Vidigueira, district of Beja. You will enjoy a lunch of regional cuisine from Alentejo, in the panoramic restaurant of the winery, harmonized with Ribafreixo wines.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Herdade do Rocim, located between Vidigueira and Cuba. It has about 120 hectares, including 70 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of olive groves. You will get to know some varieties planted there, during an educational visit to the vineyard. In addition, you will also visit the wine bar and the shop.  The visit will end with a wine tasting session, accompanied by bread, cheese and sausages.

At late afternoon, you will have time to walk around and get to know the beautiful city of Beja, in a peaceful atmosphere, where you can discover stories of conquests and hidden loves. Start by visiting the castle keep, so important in the struggles to defend Portugal's borders. It is well worth climbing to the top, admiring the city and the surrounding Alentejo landscape. Nearby are the Church of Santiago, the Cathedral and the Church of Santo Amaro, which houses the Visigothic nucleus of the Regional Museum. In the heart of the city, the Praça da República, whose Manueline foundation buildings give a particular note to the square, where we see a pillory also from the 16th century and the Misericórdia Church, a Renaissance work of reference.

Dinner will be at Herdade dos Grous. With an estate of 730 hectares, it is a calm space to relax and savour nature. In this wine and agro-tourism estate, with unique characteristics in the heart of the Alentejo, only 17 kilometres away from Beja, where fantastic wine tourism activities take place. In the wine estate's restaurant, you will enjoy a typical Alentejo meal, accompanied by Herdade dos Grous wines.

After a day full of wine tourism activities, it will be time to return to the hotel. 

Day 3
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, with the best regional products from Alentejo, our guide will pick you up and take you through the 3rd and last day of this tour.

Activities will start at Quinta do Quetzal, situated on the slopes of Vidigueira. Quinta do Quetzal houses a restaurant, a shop and an art centre. The Quetzal Art Centre, dedicated to contemporary art, is situated away from the bustling art world. On the guided tour you will stroll through the vineyards, get a closer look at the unique terroir of the wine estate and learn the secrets of wine production in Quetzal's modern winery. At the end of the visit, you will enjoy lunch at the restaurant, with the best flavours of the Alentejo, sprinkled with contemporary details from the Chef, and harmonized with Quetzal wines.

After lunch, it will be time to travel to Évora and visit the Adega da Cartuxa. Based in Quinta de Valbom, 2 km from the historic centre of Évora and 200 metres from the Cartuxa Monastery that inspired its name, the Cartuxa Wine Tourism is set in the former resting house of the Jesuits (Society of Jesus), who taught at the University of Évora in the 16th and 17th centuries. You will discover the history and unique surroundings of Quinta de Valbom, on a guided tour of the building where the Cartuxa Winery was founded. The activity will culminate with a wine tasting, accompanied by typically Alentejo delicacies such as sausages, cheeses and jams from the region.

In the late afternoon, our chauffeur will take you to Évora, where you will have free time to stroll around and get to know the city, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, and heir to a rich and varied cultural heritage. Whether in the medieval streets, the exuberance of the palaces, monasteries and churches, Évora hides a charm of its own.

For dinner, we have selected a renowned restaurant in Évora, the "5 Amêndoas" restaurant, located in the Hotel Vitória Stone. You will enjoy a gourmet dinner, harmonized, with a touch of sophistication, in a menu suggested by the Chef.  

At the end of the day, it will be time to return to Lisbon. Our guide will drop you off in the city centre, hotels or at the Humberto Delgado Airport.

Day 1 - Beja

11:30 a.m. - Guided visit to Adega Santa Vitória, with premium wine tasting, accompanied by Santa Vitória bread and olive oil;
