In this luxury, wine, and food break, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite you to come, relax and enjoy the Douro & Vinhos Verdes Wine Regions.
The 7-night program includes a stay in 5* hotels and gastronomic experiences in 4 wineries in Douro and 3 in the Vinho Verdes region.
The first accommodation will be at the Douro Royal Valley Hotel & Spa 5* integrated in a relaxing and welcoming environment, surrounded by the ancient vineyards of the Douro region, classified as World Heritage Sites. Modern and elegant, allows each guest a close relationship with nature, mirrored in the serene waters of the Douro River. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Palato D'Ouro Restaurant and Ruby bar and you can enjoy the typical local cuisine. Far from the big urban centers, also The Royal Spa knows how to combine the calm that surrounds us with the 4 natural elements, it will be here that you will enjoy a wellness treatment for two on the first day, which will be just to relax. After that, you will savor a traditional dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
On the 2nd day of the program, you will visit Quinta da Pacheca, one of the oldest, emblematic and known of the Douro region, located in Lamego. You will visit the vineyards, the mills, where the olive oil is produced, the wine cellar, where the best wines are produced, and the shop, where you can purchase the wines and some gourmet products. You will enjoy a true combination of traditional Douro flavors, in a wine and sensory experience, which will begin with a traditional cooking workshop, where you will make, with the help of Chef Carlos Pires, a typical Douro meal. You will also enjoy a tasting of 2 Douro wines and 2 Port wines from Quinta da Pacheca.
In the afternoon you will visit Quinta do Vallado, built in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous wine estates in the Douro Valley. The new cellar and the barrel room, whose construction began in 2008, and with completion at the end of 2009, combines the most advanced technology with a high quality architecture. The winery tour will take you to know all the stages of transformation through which the grapes pass, from the vineyard to the bottle. The visit also includes a passage through the stunning barrel room, where the best wines age. At the end, you will taste a selection of wines from Quinta do Vallado.
On the 3rd day, the program includes the visit and lunch at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a place of extreme beauty, in the heart of the Douro, municipality of Sabrosa, Vila Real, being owned by the Amorim family since 1999 and having been considered one of the 9 most beautiful Wine Estates to visit by American Airlines. You will visit the winery, built in 1764, the Wine Museum Centre, the barrel room and the underground wine cellar, where the best lots selected by the family age. After the visit, you will enjoy a wine lunch in the Conceitus restaurant, composed of a 3 Moments menu, paired with Quinta Nova wines, selected by the Winemaker.
The dinner will be booked at Quinta do Portal, located in Sabrosa, Vila Real is a Portuguese house, family and independent that embraced with all passion the concept of "Boutique Winery", dedicating itself to the production of DOC Douro Wines, Port wines of special categories and Moscatel. You will enjoy a traditional menu, composed of regional Douro dishes and accompanied with Quinta do portal wines. The restaurant offers an author's kitchen, made by Chef Portuguese Milton Ferreira, awarded in the gastronomy competition with Port wine.
On the 4th day you will visit and have lunch at Quinta do Ventozelo, which stands out for the exceptional soil conditions and climate of Ventozelo that provide a viticulture of excellence. At the agricultural level, productions such as olive oil, honey, fruit and cork also take their place. It is a true reserve of the Douro biodiversity. It is this diversity that we invite you to taste, which includes 6 Ventozelo wines and lunch at the Cantina de Ventozelo restaurant, where you will savor a tradional menu of Douro and Trás-Os-Montes products. On the terrace overlooking the Estate and the Douro River, the delicacies gain a new flavor.
On the 5th day of the program it will be time to leave the Douro and travel to the Vinhos Verdes region. The accommodation will be at Monverde Wine Experience Hotel 4*, located among the berries and vineyards of Quinta da Lixa. You will enjoy a concept that essentially involves connecting the accommodation to the exploration and production of wine, promoting direct contact with the cultural and landscape heritage of the surroundings. You will enjoy great comfort and a view of the vineyard or terrace, and enjoy total relaxation in contact with nature. At Monverde you will participate in the winemaker experience for 1 day, a practical and very interactive activity that enhances the knowledge of the grape varieties and their contribution in the production of green wines. The result will be the creation of the lot itself and the memory of the wine with the signature of the visitor.
On the 6th day you will visit and have lunch at Quinta da Aveleda, a family business that, since 1870, has been dedicated to the production of wines whose quality is recognized worldwide. In addition to its important architectural heritage, Quinta da Aveleda is also renowned for its grand gardens, right in the heart of the Vinho Verdes region, where the vegetation has been blooming for over two hundred years, in full harmony with the surrounding vineyard. You will visit Quinta da Aveleda, on a guided tour of the facilities, winery and gardens, which will culminate in the tasting of a traditional menu Portuguese paired with Aveleda wines.
In the afternoon you will visit Quinta de Santa Teresa (A&D Wines), located in Loivos da Ribeira, Baião, has several buildings of relevant architectural value. Distributed throughout the property are gardens, lakes, swimming pool and forest that present us with numerous pleasant spaces, of great beauty. On the guided tour, you will get to know the property, its terroir and history, the agricultural and wine methods used, followed by an autonomous visit through the facilities, following the indications of a map, with all the information of the route. At the end of the visit, you will enjoy a commented tasting of 4 A&D Wines.
On the 7th and last day of activities you will visit Quinta Santa Cristina, located in Celorico de Basto and with 60 hectares between vineyard and forest, is inserted in an area of excellence for the production of genuine Green Wines, enjoying a unique environment between the mountains of Fafe, Marão, Alvão and Cabreira, and the right bank of the River Tâmega, inviting to the quiet and harmony between wines and nature. You will visit the vineyards and the winery and enjoy a tasting of 3 Quinta Santa Cristina wines, accompanied by regional products.
Lunch will be at the Largo do Paço restaurant, integrated in the Hotel Casa da Calçada, awarded with a Michelin star known as one of the best and most famous houses in the city for its traditional cuisine.
The program will end on the 8th day after breakfast and a spa treatment at the hotel.
