In this wine and food tour, we invite you to discover Setúbal’s Wine Region. A 1-day self-guided tour in which you will find out all about the gastronomic Portuguese tradition, visiting some modern wine houses, tasting some of the best wines of the region.
The tour begins at Casa Ermelinda Freitas, a family company, that has got 100 years old and it’s a reference in the wine production in Setúbal. You will have the opportunity to know Ermelinda Freitas, its Wine Cellars, learning all about the history of this well-known wine producer. The visit ends with a 5 wines tasting paired with local products, such as cheeses, bread, smoked meats or jams.
You will begin the afternoon at Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, one of the biggest and most innovative wine producer in Portugal, which has developed through the years a wide variety of wines that resulted in a solid reputation and preference from national and international consumers. It has got 1200ha of vineyard, 40 villas, 40 grape varieties and 4 wine cellars. In this experience we invite you to visit the headquarters at Quinta da Bassaqueira, in Azeitão, the wine cellar and the museum. By the end, you will be tasting some Bacalhôa wines.
This tour ends with a visit to Casa Museu José Maria da Fonseca, also in Azeitão, which has been producing wine since 1834. The visit begins in the museum with a brief explanation about the history of the company. You will then see the gardens and the wine cellar. The visit ends with a 3 Super Premium wines tasting (1 white wine, 1 red wine and 1 Setúbal muscatel).
