Since the dawn of man’s existence in the Douro Valley, there are traces of wine production. The microclimate, the schist soils and the great advantage of the river as a means of transport made this wine famous. Navigation was always the way to carry the precious wine down to Oporto. Amongst incredible conditions and enormous difficulties, the boats sailed by the force of the current, the wind and by sheer human will. The Douro became known worldwide, for its wines, it’s landscape’s architecture, it’s culture and it’s boats and navigation.
This is the scenario you will enjoy in this activity. We invite you to embark on a unique experience aboard of our Wine Boat Senhora do Carmo, which will make the connection between wine, landscape, culture and navigation.
The trip will begin in Ferrão, where you will embark on a boat trip along the Douro River, lasting 1h30m. During the trip, you will be served a glass of Quinta do Tedo's Rosé Tonic Port and some light snacks. The return, at sunset, will be heading back to Ferrão.
Come aboard with us, on this charming trip aboard our boat, Senhora do Carmo!
