About the Activity
On this luxury wine and food tour, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite you to discover the Portuguese Wine Regions.

The program of 12 days and 11 nights includes the visit to 25 of the most prestigious wineries and Wine Estates in Portugal, where you will taste the best wines, gastronomy and enjoy unforgettable wine tourism experiences.

The tour starts with the pick-up at Sá Carneiro Airport, in hotels, or in the city center of Oporto. You will be accompanied by a chauffeur specialized in wine tourism and the entire trip will be in a premium vehicle.

After the pick-up, the trip towards Douro Valley will be full of stunning landscapes, where you will appreciate the peculiar natural beauty of this route.

The activities begin at Quinta da Gricha, owned by Churchill's, located between Pinhão and São João da Pesqueira, near the village Ervedosa do Douro. Inaugurated in May 2017, with the aim of giving a concept and the company's wine brands, Quinta da Gricha combines its character with the modern comforts that will make you feel at home. You will know the property on a guided tour, where you will walk in the vineyards and at the historic house built in 1852, with its unique granite mills, where the importance of the terroir will be explained, and made known the different varieties of grapes used in the production of wines. After the visit it will be time to taste the typical Douro products, at a regional lunch paired with Churchill's wines.

After lunch, our Chauffeur will take you to know one of the most beautiful spots in Douro, the Viewpoint of the National Road 222, where you can contemplate the landscape over the Douro River and Pinhão village.

The next visit will be at Quinta da Roêda, the cornerstone of the distinctive style of the Croft house, described as the jewel of port wine properties. The wines of this property, which contains some of the oldest vineyards in the Douro region, from the heart of Croft's Vintage Port wine lot. You will visit the winery on a route that includes the vineyard and the presses and will end with the tasting of 4 Port wines, accompanied with toasted almonds.

In the late afternoon it will be time to check in at the hotel. You can choose one of the two wine estates with accommodation. Dinner, regional and chef's suggestion, will be served in the restaurant and paired with its wines.

You can choose the Wine Hotel da Quinta da Pacheca, one of the best-known units of the 'charm tourism' of the Douro Valley. With the vineyard and wine as inspiration and environment, it is oriented towards gastronomic and oenological tourism, combining the modern and avant-garde image with sobriety and elegance.

Or, alternatively, the Quinta de Ventozelo Hotel. Owned by Gran Cruz, Quinta de Ventozelo seeks to value the enormous potential of its property, not only for working on the richness and diversity of its wines, but also for betting on olive oil, wine tourism and nature tourism. Find out why Ventozelo is not just a hotel. It is, above all, a Estate, accustomed to welcoming all those who arrive there with hospitality.

Day 2 - Douro
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you on the 2th day of this tour.

The activities start with a private boat ride on the Douro River, where you will enjoy the stunning and charming landscapes of the Douro Valley. The tour will begin at the Folgosa do Douro river pier in Armamar, where you will board a sailboat and set off on a journey through the Douro towards Pinhão. 
The boat route will stop at several places to visit, the first will be in one of the best properties of the Douro, Quinta do Bomfim, located in the heart of alto Douro. Owned by the Symington family, it is one of the most beautiful properties in the family, whose presence in the region dates back five generations. Predominantly south-facing, with ample sun exposure, the schist slopes are arranged on vine terraces that have produced memorable Dow’s Vintage Port wines over the last century. On the visit you will get to know the winery, the vineyards, the tasting room and the outdoor terrace, with stunning views of the Douro, and also enjoy a Symington wine tasting. The next stop will be for lunch in the restaurant Cozinha da Clara integrated in Quinta de La Rosa, where you will enjoy a regional lunch, with the typical products of the Douro, paired with the wines.

In the late afternoon you will have free time to stroll and visit the city of Peso da Régua, considered the capital of the Douro Wine Region. It is a magnificent place, rich in historical heritage and owner of a masterful landscape.

For dinner our Chauffeur will suggest you some options, it is up to you to decide. However, the program recommends the restaurant Castas & Pratos, camouflaged in the old railway warehouse, next to the train station is one of the most charismatic restaurants in the region, standing out for its architecture, a breath of modernity and bold lines, with plenty of wood and an incredible cellar. After dinner it will be time to return to the hotel. 

Day 3 - Douro
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you on the 3th day of this tour.

The activities begin at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a place of extreme beauty, in the heart of the Douro, municipality of Sabrosa, Vila Real. You will visit the winery, built in 1764, the Wine Museum Centre, the barrel room and the underground wine cellar, where the best lots selected by the family age. After the visit, you will enjoy a wine lunch in the Conceitus restaurant, composed of a 3 Moments menu, paired with Quinta Nova wines, selected by the Winemaker.

After lunch it will be time to meet the ex-libris of Moscatel in the Douro, the Adega de Favaios, one of the most prestigious Wineries in Portugal where, since 1952, the white Galician moscatel variety is produced, thus creating the designation of Moscatel de Favaios, one of the most famous and emblematic Portuguese moscatel. The guided tour of the Winery will have as main objective to show you how to vinify the Moscatel de Favaios. You will also have the opportunity to know the different warehouses. The visit will end with the 2 tastings in a unique setting – the traditional balseiros and barrels.

The last visit of the day will be at Quinta do Seixo, owned by Sogrape, located in Cima-Corgo, in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region. It is an old wine estate, from the 19th century. The breathtaking views are a magnificent landscape, shaped by man on terraces and schist terraces, in a surprising contrast to the brightness of the Douro River and the view of the picturesque village of Pinhão. You will enjoy a tour in the winery, cellar and robotic lagars, where you will know the wine production cycle and, enjoy a tasting of 3 wines, representing the three styles of Port Wine – White, Ruby and Tawny.

In the late afternoon you will have free time to walk in the village of Pinhão, one of the central points of the Douro Demarcated Region. This is where almost all port wine came out (and leaves). Pinhão Station is one of the places to visit. It was built in the 19th century and the tiles, which depict the Douro lands and harvest scenes, were placed in 1937. The village receives about 400,000 tourists a year. There are many wine and Douro lovers. Pinhão's landscape is within the UNESCO classification as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

For dinner our Chauffeur will suggest you some options, it is up to you to decide! However, the program recommends the DOC restaurant, a space where Chef Rui Paula, an inescapable reference of modern Portuguese cuisine, distinguished with a Michelin Star, with a modern and inventive look, makes the kitchen a historical laboratory based on several generations of culinary recipes. The wine list, with more than 700 references, contains all the great wines that are produced in the Douro. After dinner it will be time to return to the hotel. 

Day 4 – Vinhos Verdes & Porto
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and take you on the 4th and last day of this tour.

The activities begin at Quinta da Aveleda, a family business that, since 1870, has been dedicated to the production of wines whose quality is recognized worldwide. In addition to its important architectural heritage, Quinta da Aveleda is also renowned for its grand gardens, right in the heart of the Vinho Verdes region, where the vegetation has been blooming for over two hundred years, in full harmony with the surrounding vineyard. You will visit Quinta da Aveleda, on a guided tour of the facilities, winery and gardens, which will culminate in the tasting of a traditional menu Portuguese paired with Aveleda wines. 

After lunch it will be time to visit Quinta Santa Cristina. Located in Celorico de Basto and with 60 hectares between vineyard and forest, is inserted in an area of excellence for the production of genuine Green Wines, enjoying a unique environment between the mountains of Fafe, Marão, Alvão and Cabreira, and the right bank of the River Tâmega, inviting to the quiet and harmony between wines and nature. You will visit the vineyards and the winery and enjoy a tasting of 3 Quinta Santa Cristina wines, accompanied by regional products.

After the visit it will be time to travel to Porto, more specifically to Vila Nova de Gaia, where you will visit the Port Wine Cellars, The Caves Taylor's.

Created more than three centuries ago, in 1692, Taylor's is one of the oldest port wine trading houses dedicated exclusively to the production of Port wine and, especially, to its best styles. You will visit the  Taylor's wine cellars, in the heart of the historic area of Vila Nova de Gaia, and enjoy a guided tour that will take you to explore the basement that houses most of the company's large wooden port wine reserves, as well as its Vintage Port wine cellars. After the visit you will participate in a tasting of 4 Port wines accompanied by toasted almonds.

In the central area of Vila Nova de Gaia you will find several typical and luxury restaurants where you can dine, however we leave you a suggestion, which stands out for its gastronomic quality and wine list. The restaurant Enoteca 17.56, owned by Real Companhia Velha, combines the best of contemporary, Mediterranean and fusion gastronomy with the universe of Portuguese wines.

After dinner it will be time to check in at the hotel. Once again, the program offers two options for your accommodation.

You can choose to stay at The Yeatman 5*, a luxurious wine hotel with wonderful views of Porto City and the Douro River. A member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux chain and its two Michelin-starred restaurant, The Yeatman is a distinctive and unique landmark in the world's luxury hotel scene. Situated in the historic area of the city, where are the oldest port wine cellars, the Yeatman is located on a beautiful hill, with stunning views of Porto and, in all its surrounding space, provides an extremely quiet and serene environment within the city. All rooms have panoramic city views and a private terrace facing the Douro River and exquisite décor reminiscent of the region and wine production traditions.

Alternatively, you can stay at Porto Royal Bridges Hotel 4*. It is a 4-star boutique hotel, the newest and most modern hotel in the city of Porto. Excellently located at the intersection of Sá da Bandeira street and Sampaio Bruno street, this hotel boasts 70 rooms divided into three types: Interior Room, Standard Room and Deluxe Room, distributed over 6 floors. Our rooms offer you the comfort you need and the excellence you demand, providing you with a unique stay, whether you are visiting us for work or for leisure. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in Entre Pontes Restaurant and Eiffel Bar and take the opportunity to taste the typical local cuisine.  

Day 5 - Lisbon
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 5th day of this tour, which will be in the Lisbon region.

The activities begin at Manzwine, a project based on the historical and wine recovery of the village of Cheleiros, as well as the recovery of the Jampal grape variety, a Portuguese grape, almost extinct, from which they make the only wine in the world 100% Jampal. You will be welcomed at the Old Winepress/ wine shop, starting the visit with a historical setting. The following is the visit to the museum, where there is an explanation about the Terroir and its influence on the characteristics of the wine. The visit continues in the cellar and the Old School / Barrels Room. The visit ends with the guided and commented tasting of 6 Premium wines, accompanied by Mafra Bread and 2 extra virgin olive oils.

The next activity will be in Quinta do Gradil, considered one of the oldest, if not the oldest Estate in the municipality of Cadaval, in Lisbon, has a strong wine tradition that lasts for centuries. The property consists of a noble chapel ornamented by an artistically decorated turret, a housing estate, a winery and an agricultural area of 200 hectares occupied with wine and fruit productions. Here you will enjoy a light lunch of traditional Portuguese snacks, accompanied with wines from Quinta do Gradil.

After lunch, it will be time to visit Quinta do Sanguinhal, founded in 1926 by Abel Pereira da Fonseca. It is dedicated to the exploration of 3 Farms in the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. You will know the Farm on a guided tour, as well as the gardens and vineyards. You will visit the former distillery fully recovered, the old mill with stick and spindle presses, dating from 1871 and the aging basement with 36 barrels. The visit will end with a commented tasting of 6 wines, accompanied by toasts, regional cheese and mini cream pastries.

For accommodation in Lisbon Wine Region, the program presents you with two options. A 5* hotel or a Farm with accommodation. Dinner will be served at the unit you choose.

You can stay overnight at the Dolce Campo Real 5*hotel, located in the middle of the Protected Landscape of Serra do Socorro and Archeira, in Torres Vedras, where you can enjoy the most attractive views of a peaceful paradise. After the first day of the tour, wear the Dolce bathrobe and slippers and relax in one of the modern rooms. Work out in the 24-hour gym or relax at the Spa Water Circuit in one of the outdoor or indoor pools. For dinner, enjoy exclusive dishes created by the Chef. With seasonal menus and a refined atmosphere, Dolce Campo Real is the place to taste Portugal's cuisine.

Alternatively, you can stay at the Wine Hotel da Quinta da Lapa 4*, located in the municipality of Azambuja, where you can experience a real rural getaway, always accompanied by the best wines. The Estate has more than 300 years of tradition of high-quality wine production. You will enjoy a night in a double room, near Lisbon, awayfrom the hustle and hassle day by day. In addition to the wine tastings and regional snacks, you can also enjoy a guided tour in the vineyard, wine cellar and savor a wine with wine pairing for two.

Day 6 - Setúbal
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 6th day of this tour, which will be in the Setúbal region.

The activities begin at José Maria da Fonseca, located in Azeitão. Maintains a wine activity since 1834, the result of the shared passion of a family that has been able to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. The visit will begin in the Museum Room with a brief explanation about the history of the company. After a passage through the garden, you will visit the wine cellars: the Adega da Mata, the Adega dos Teares Novos and the Adega dos Teares Velhos. In the end, you will taste 4 wines and 2 Moscatéis de Setúbal.

For lunch, we suggest, in the facilities of José Maria da Fonseca, the By The Wine restaurant, where you can taste the best snacks in the region, accompanied by the most respected wines of Setúbal. 

After lunch it will be time to visit Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, one of the largest and most innovative wine companies in Portugal, which has developed over the years a wide range of wines, that has earned it a solid reputation and national and international preference. On a guided tour of the Bacalhôa museum and winery, in Quinta da Bassaqueira, you will have the opportunity to know the history of this house and contemplate the present artistic exhibition. You will end the visit with wine tasting in the tasting room, where you can admire the tranquil scenery of the Japanese Garden, in which is exposed part of the work of sculptor Niizuma.

In the late afternoon, after a day full of enogastronomic activities, it will be time to go to the hotel. In this program we present you two options.

The Casa Palmela 5* hotel, located in the heart of the Arrábida Natural Park is a house with a history dating back to the 17th century. When choosing this accommodation, you will stay overnight in one of the rooms of the Main House, where you breathe the charm and romanticism of a five-star hotel, surrounded by the stunning nature of the Serra da Arrábida and the histories of a manor house with a unique past. The large rooms come with a bathroom with shower, double bed and garden views. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a treatment at the Spa.

Or alternatively the Montado Hotel & Golf Resort 4*. Just 30 minutes south of Lisbon, this modern resort includes an impressive 18-hole golf course. Its restaurant serves international cuisine and features an extensive wine list and lake views of the resort. By opting for this accommodation, you can also enjoy the hotel's Spa before a relaxing evening.

The dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant!

Day 7 - Rest Day
On this day you will have the day totally free to rest, walk, or do what gives you more pleasure.

Day 8 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 8th day of this tour, which will be in the Alentejo region.

The activities start in one of the most prestigious brands in Portugal, Cartuxa Winery  - Quinta de Valbom. Located in Quinta de Valbom, 2 km from the historic center of Évora and 200 metres from the Carthusian Monastery, that inspired its name, The Cartuxa Wine Tourism is housed in the former Jesuit rest home (Companhia de Jesus), who taught at the University of Évora in the 16th and 17th centuries. Discover the history and unique surroundings of Quinta de Valbom through a guided tour of the building where the Cartuxa Winery was founded. The activity will culminate with the tasting 3 wines selected by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, accompanied by typical Alentejo snacks, such as sausages, cheeses and jams from the region.

For lunch, we selected one of the most renowned restaurants in the city of Évora, the restaurant 5 Almêndoas, installed in the Hotel Vitória Stone, where you will enjoy a typical Alentejo lunch, and you can try the best traditional cuisine, with a touch of sophistication, on a menu suggested by the Chef.  

After lunch you will visit Herdade do Freixo, an agricultural company located in northeastern Alentejo, whose main activity is wine production with varieties of high adaptive potential to soil and climate. You will know the winery, owner of a unique architecture, built in depth in a total of 3 floors below the vineyard, and at the end of the visit you will taste 2 premium wines, in a tasting accompanied by a board of cheeses and sausages.

With regard to accommodation, the program offers two emblematic hotels, one of 5 and the other of 4 stars.

The hotel Convento do Espinheiro Historic Hotel & Spa 5*, located in Évora, where you can enjoy an authentic experience of Romance in alentejo. Built in the reign of D. Afonso V, with an incomparable history, it is blessed with 8 hectares of divine outdoor spaces, a SPA, considered the best Spa in Portugal in 2009, by the World Travel Awards, an indoor pool overlooking the garden, gym, sauna and jacuzzi. In warmer weather, the outdoor pool and Aqua Lounge Pool Bar are at your disposal.

Alternatively, the hotel M ´AR De AR Muralhas 4*, located in the historic city center of Évora, near the well-known Giraldo Square, the nerve center of this magnificent city and capital of the kingdom during the early years of the 16th century. Here you can enjoy the wide garden area framed by the historic wall that provides an environment of incomparable beauty. Benefiting from this unique setting is the pool area, the terrace with a living area of high comfort, taking full advantage of the famous Alentejo nights and the planetarium that forms on our heads.

The dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant!

Day 9 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional Alentejo products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 9nd day of this tour.

The activities start at Monte da Ravasqueira, located in the municipality of Arraiolos, produces the best wines of Alentejo and occupies a vast area of landscape, with excellent geological and climatic conditions for the production of wine! The visit will begin at the Private Museum, which pays homage to the creation of Lusitanian horses and brings together private harnesses and hitching cars from Europe. After visiting, you will know the vineyards and the imposing wine cellar, where the wines rest. 

For lunch, there are many regional restaurants options in Arraiolos.  The program suggests the 'República do Petisco' restaurant, in the center of the village, where you can enjoy a menu full of typical Alentejo dishes.

Already in the afternoon you will visit Casa Alexandre Relvas, a family business located in the village of S. Miguel de Machede, between Évora and Redondo. The wines are recognized for the excellent price quality ratio, receiving year after year excellent scores by the international specialized critic. On the guided tour of the property you will know the winery, a building entirely covered with cork, and all the processes related to production, the varieties with which they work and learn a little more about the Alentejo region. After the visit, you will enjoy a tasting of Portuguese grape varieties, which consists of the tasting of 4 single grape varieties and a "blend", accompanied by regional snacks.

In the late afternoon our Chauffeur will take you to the city of Évora, where you will have free time to stroll and get to know the city classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and heir to a rich and varied cultural heritage. Whether in the interplay of medieval streets, in the exuberance of palaces, monasteries and churches, Évora hides a charm of its own.

For dinner you will have a table reserved in restaurant Enoteca Cartuxa, cultural and wine heritage of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, joins the legacy of Alentejo gastronomy, in the historic center of Évora. Be amazed to discover the perfect harmony between the Cartuxa wines and the regional cuisine interpreted and reinvented in a current way in a dinner full of traditional Alentejo flavors, chef's suggestion.

Day 10 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional Alentejo products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 10rd day of this tour.

The activities begin at Herdade do Esporão. You will unlock the secrets of wine production on a visit to the Cellars, and test your senses in a blind tasting with an exercise in aromas. The tasting begins with a visit to know the winemaking process of Esporão wines. Then you will explore your senses through a commented blind tasting where you will identify different wine profiles.
For lunch, the Chef of Herdade do Esporão, presents you a cuisine focused on the products and flavors of Alentejo and Portugal, combined with a modern confection and interpretation. The Menu leaves your meal entirely in the hands of the Chef, who will define a Tasting Menu of 5 Moments, prepared with seasonal products, from local and national producers, closely following the cycle of each.

After lunch it is time to visit the Adega da Ervideira. You will visit the winery and follow the entire production process, from the arrival of the grape to the bottling of the wine and its expedition. You will know Ervideira in its essence. After the visit, the wine tasting will follow. There will be several references, among whites, rosés and reds, including "Blind Bottles". These, completely "uncharacterized", will have a wine in common and the challenge is to identify it and match the bottles in taste. You can also sample regional products.

In the late afternoon our Chauffeur will take you back to the city center of Évora, where you will have free time to walk. Dinner will be your choice in one of the city's restaurants. The program suggests a renowned family restaurant, located in the historic center, named "O Fialho", known for the good and genuine regional gastronomy and excellent wines, where the authentic flavors of Alentejo are valued. At the end of dinner, it will be time to return to the hotel. 

Day 11 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, with the best regional Alentejo products, and after the check-out of the hotel, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 11th day of this tour.

The activities begin at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, located in Albernôa located in Albernôa, in the heart of the Lower Alentejo. It is a space of freedom that is lost on the horizon without limits, where high quality wines and native animals are bred in total harmony with nature. In the cellar building, the restaurant offers an author's kitchen, inspired by typical Alentejo dishes, recreated by a Michelin-starred Chef. You will taste the menu of 4 moments paired with the best Malhadinha Wines.

After lunch, you will visit the Herdade dos Grous, a property of 730 hectares, that constitutes a quiet space to relax and taste nature. In this estate of wine and agrotourism exploration, with unique characteristics in the heart of the Alentejo, only 17 kilometers away from Beja. You will know the estate on a guided tour, followed by a tasting of 4 Herdade dos Grous wines, accompanied by regional Alentejo tapas.

After the visit it will be time to leave the Alentejo towards the Algarve. Our Chauffeur will take you directly to your accommodation option, which can be:

The Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa 5* hotel, founded in the 1980s, located on top of a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is located in Alporchinhos and consists of Moorish-style buildings surrounded by tropical gardens. Inside awaits you a sophisticated and refined atmosphere, thought to offer the greatest comfort without giving up refinement and elegance. In the room you can enjoy amenities such as full bathroom, LCD TV and Wi-Fi. Outside the room, from the top of the hill you can admire the stunning, magnificent and luxurious views of the hotel's green spaces and the Algarve coastline. Alternatively, you can stay at Pestana Delfim Beach & Golf Hotel 4*. Day 12 - Algarve
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 12th and last day of this tour.

During the morning you will have free time to walk around and get to know Albufeira. At the top of the list of tourist destinations in the Algarve, the old fishing village has become a popular holiday destination, with beautiful beaches, traditional whitewashed house crossing and a bustling area with nightly attractions.

For lunch, we suggest the restaurant "Vila Joya" in Albufeira, with 2 Michelin stars. It is one of the most prestigious restaurants in the whole Algarve, serving exceptional cuisine.

After lunch you will visit Quinta dos Vales - Wine Estate, located in the western Algarve, it is considered one of the best wineries in the region, with international recognition and visitors from various parts of the world. After a guided tasting of a single grape variety wines, you will enjoy a bottle blending workshop, where you will have the opportunity to create a wine tailored to your preferences, with the help of a team of winemakers. These will teach you how to distinguish the different grape varieties and offering advice on how to mix the wines in different combinations and proportions. In the end, you can bottle the wine, label it and seal it with cork stopper, achieving the satisfaction of holding your own creation in your hands!

Back in Albufeira you will find a panoply of good restaurants, especially if you want to eat fish or seafood. The program advises you the restaurant Al Quimia, integrated in the Epic Sana Algarve hotel, is renowned for its fine cuisine of author and excellent portuguese wine list. 

After dinner, it will be time to retur to Lisbon and finish the tour. Our guide will drop you off at Lisbon city centre, hotels or Humberto Delgado Airport.
