In this luxury, wine and food break, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite to relax and enjoy in the Douro Wine Region.
The 5-night program includes a stay in a luxury hotel and visits with wine tasting in 5 emblematic Wineries, having 4 meals paired with wines.
The accommodation will be at the Douro Royal Valley Hotel & Spa 5* integrated in a relaxing and welcoming environment, surrounded by the ancient vineyards of the Douro region, classified as World Heritage Sites. Modern and elegant, allows each guest a close relationship with nature, mirrored in the serene waters of the Douro River. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Palato D'Ouro Restaurant and Ruby bar and you can enjoy the typical local cuisine. Far from the big urban centers, The Royal Spa knows how to combine the calm that surrounds us with the 4 natural elements, here you will enjoy a wellness treatment for two on the first day, which will be just to relax. After, you will enjoy a dinner in the restaurant.
On the 2nd day of the program you will visit Quinta da Pacheca, one of the oldest, more emblematic and known of the Douro region, located in Lamego. You will visit the vineyards, the mills, where the olive oil is produced, the wine cellar, where the best wines are produced, and the shop, where you can purchase the wines and some gourmet products. Enjoy a true combination of traditional Douro flavors, in a wine and sensory experience, which will begin with a traditional cooking workshop, where you will make, with the help of Chef Carlos Pires, a typical Douro meal. You will also enjoy a tasting of 2 Douro wines and 2 Port wines from Quinta da Pacheca.
In the afternoon you will visit Quinta do Vallado, built in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous wine estates in the Douro Valley. The new cellar and the barrel room, whose construction began in 2008, and with completion at the end of 2009, combines the most advanced technology with high quality architecture. The winery tour will take you to know all the stages of transformation through which the grapes pass, from the vineyard to the bottle. The visit also includes a passage through the stunning barrel room, where the best wines age. At the end, you will taste a selection of wines from Quinta do Vallado.
On the 3rd day, the program includes the visit and lunch at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a place of extreme beauty, in the heart of the Douro, municipality of Sabrosa, Vila Real, being owned by the Amorim family since 1999 and having been considered one of the 9 most beautiful Wine Estates to visit by American Airlines. You will visit the winery, built in 1764, the Wine Museum Centre, the barrel room and the underground wine cellar, where the best lots selected by the family age. After the visit, you will enjoy a wine lunch in the Conceitus restaurant, composed of a 3 Moments menu, paired with Quinta Nova wines, selected by the Winemaker.
On the 4th day you will visit and have lunch at Quinta do Ventozelo, which stands out for the exceptional soil conditions and climate, that provide a viticulture of excellence. At the agricultural level, productions such as olive oil, honey, fruit and cork also take their place. It is a true reserve of the Douro biodiversity. It is this diversity that we invite you to prove, in a tasting which includes 6 Ventozelo wines and lunch at the Cantina de Ventozelo restaurant, where you will savor a traditional menu of Douro and Trás-Os-Montes products. On the terrace, overlooking the Estate and the Douro River, the delicacies gain a new flavor.
On the 5th and last day of activities of the program, you will join a private boat ride on the Douro River, where you will enjoy the stunning and charming landscapes of the Douro Valley. The tour begins at the Folgosa do Douro river pier in Armamar, where you will board a sailboat and set off on a journey through the Douro, towards Pinhão. During the trip, a tapas lunch with regional products and wines will be served on board.
During the afternoon you will visit Quinta do Tedo, in the heart of the Alto Douro Vinhateiro, between the Douro and Tedo rivers, 5 minutes from Folgosa, Armamar. Surrounded by imposing landscapes, composed of granite stones, it is one of the most remarkable and emblematic of the region, currently producing Port Wine, Douro DOC wines and olive oil, based on sustainable bio agriculture. You will get to know Quinta do Tedo, on a guided tour of the winery, winemaking center and historic cellars, which will end with a tasting of 3 Port Wines, harmonized with artisanal chocolates.
The dinner will be booked at Quinta do Portal, located in Sabrosa, Vila Real. It is a Portuguese house, family and independent, that embraced with all passion the concept of "Boutique Winery", dedicating itself to the production of DOC Douro Wines, Port wines of special categories and Moscatel. You will enjoy a traditional menu, composed of regional Douro dishes and accompanied by Quinta do portal wines. The restaurant offers an author's kitchen, made by Chef Portuguese Milton Ferreira, awarded in the gastronomy competition with Port wine.
The program will end on the 6th day, after breakfast and check-out of the hotel.
