In this luxury wine and food break, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite you to relax and enjoy the Alentejo Wine Region.
The 5-night program, includes accommodation in a 5-star hotel and visits to emblematic Alentejo wine estates, having in 2, meals paired with wines.
The stay will be at the Hotel Convento do Espinheiro Historic Hotel & Spa *****, located in Évora, where you can enjoy an authentic experience of Romance in Alentejo. Built in the reign of D. Afonso V, with an incomparable history, it is blessed with 8 hectares of divine outdoor spaces, a SPA, considered the best Spa in Portugal in 2009, by the World Travel Awards, an indoor pool overlooking the garden, gym, sauna and jacuzzi. In warmer weather, the outdoor pool and Aqua Lounge Pool Bar are at your disposal.
During the program, you will have access to some wine tourism activities near Évora and Beja.
The first day of the program will be spent at the hotel, where you will rest and take care of yourself! You will have a wellness treatment in the spa and, at the end of the day, a dinner for 2, in the restaurant Divinus, integrated in the Convento do Espinheiro, with the best Alentejo products.
On the 2nd day, during the morning, you will visit Monte da Ravasqueira, located in the municipality of Arraiolos, that produces the best wines of Alentejo and occupies a vast area of landscape, with excellent geological and climatic conditions for the production of wine! The visit will begin at the Private Museum, which pays homage to the creation of Lusitanian horses and brings together private harnesses and hitching cars from Europe. After visiting the museum, you will get to know the vineyards and the imposing winery, where you will take part in a Ravasqueira wine tasting session.
In the afternoon, you will visit Cartuxa Winery - Quinta de Valbom. Located in Quinta de Valbom, 2 km from the historic centre of Évora and 200 metres from the Carthusian Monastery that inspired its name, The Cartuxa Wine Tourism is installed in the former Jesuit rest home (Companhia de Jesus), who taught at the University of Évora in the 16th and 17th centuries. You will discover the history and unique surroundings of Quinta de Valbom through a guided tour of the building where the Cartuxa Winery was founded. The activity will culminate with the tasting of wines selected by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, accompanied by typical Alentejo snacks, such as cured meats, cheeses and jams from the region.
The 3rd day of the program will be to go down to the Beja region (about 100 km from Évora), and visit two of the most emblematic wine estates in the region.
Lunch will be at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, located in Albernoa, in the heart of the Lower Alentejo. It is a space of freedom that is lost on the horizon without limits, where high quality wines and native animals are bred in total harmony with nature. In the cellar building, the restaurant offers an author's kitchen, inspired by typical Alentejo dishes, recreated by a Michelin-starred Chef. You will taste the menu of 4 moments, paired with the best Malhadinha Wines.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Herdade dos Grous, a property of 730 hectares that constitutes a quiet space to relax and taste nature. In this estate of wine and agro-tourism exploration, with unique characteristics in the heart of the Alentejo, only 17 kilometres away from Beja, you will get to know the estate on a guided tour of the winery, followed by a tasting of Herdade dos Grous wines, accompanied by regional Alentejo tapas.
The 4th day of the program, is again in the region of Évora. During the morning you will visit the avant-garde and internationally known, due to its architecture, Herdade do Freixo, located in the northeast Alentejo. You will know the winery, built in depth in a total of 3 floors below the vineyard, and at the end of the visit, taste premium wines, accompanied by a board of cheeses and cured meats.
For dinner, you will have a table reserved in one of the most prestigious restaurants in the city, the restaurant Enoteca Cartuxa. Cultural and wine heritage of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, the Enoteca Cartuxa joins the legacy of Alentejo gastronomy, in the historic centre of Évora. Be amazed to discover the perfect harmony between the Cartuxa wines and the regional cuisine, interpreted and reinvented in a current way, in a dinner full of traditional Alentejo flavours, chef's suggestion.
On the 5th day of the program, you will visit and have lunch at Herdade do Esporão. You will unlock the secrets of wine production on a visit to the cellars, and test your senses in a wine tasting with an exercise in aromas, where you will identify different wine profiles. For lunch, the Chef of Herdade do Esporão presents you a cuisine focused on the products and flavours of Alentejo and Portugal, combined with a modern confection and interpretation. The Menu leaves your meal entirely in the hands of the Chef, who will define a tasting menu of 5 moments, prepared with seasonal products, from local and national producers, closely following the cycle of each.
The program will end on the 6th day, after breakfast and check-out of the hotel.
