About the Activity
On this luxury wine and food tour, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite you to discover the Wine Regions of Lisbon, Setúbal and Alentejo.

The program of 8 days and 7 nights, includes the visit to 16 prestigious wine estates of these regions, where you will taste the best wines, gastronomy and enjoy unforgettable wine tourism experiences.

The program starts with the pick-up at Humberto Delgado Airport, in hotels, or in the city center of Lisbon. You will be accompanied by a specialized wine tourism chauffeur and the entire trip will be on a premium vehicle.

After the pick-up, the trip towards the Wine Region of Lisbon will be full of stunning landscapes, where you will enjoy the peculiar natural beauty of this route.

The activities will begin at Quinta do Porto Nogueira, dated back to the first half of the 18th century and always been owned by the same family. Since 2004 it is a Casa Romana Vini Estate. The vineyard has been the main crop of Quinta do Porto Nogueira since 1738, where the vines extended through the valleys and plains there. You will take part in a guided tour of the facilities and winery, which will allow you to get to know all the stages of transformation, from the vineyard to the bottle. At the end, in the tasting room, with the watching of a short film, a wine and gastronomic tasting will follow, involving a tasting of 6 wines and a harmonized lunch.  

After lunch, it will be time to visit Quinta do Sanguinhal, founded in 1926, by Abel Pereira da Fonseca. It is dedicated to the exploration of 3 wine estates in the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. You will know the property, the gardens, and vineyards on a guided tour. You will visit the former distillery, fully recovered, the old mill with stick and spindle presses, dating from 1871 and the aging basement, with 36 barrels. The visit will end with a commented tasting of 6 wines, accompanied by toasts, regional cheese and mini cream pastries.

For accommodation in Lisbon, the program presents you two options. A 5* hotel or a wine estate with accommodation. Dinner will be served at the unit you choose.

You can stay at the Dolce Campo Real 5* hotel, located in the middle of the Protected Landscape of Serra do Socorro and Archeira, in Torres Vedras, where you can enjoy the most attractive views of a peaceful paradise. After the first day of the tour, wear the Dolce bathrobe and slippers and relax in one of the modern rooms. Work out in the 24-hour gym or relax at the Spa Water Circuit, in one of the outdoor or indoor pools. For dinner, enjoy exclusive dishes created by the Chef. With seasonal menus and a refined atmosphere, Dolce Campo Real is the place to taste Portugal's cuisine.

Alternatively, you can stay at the Wine Hotel da Quinta da Lapa 4*, located in the municipality of Azambuja, where you can experience a real rural getaway, always accompanied by the best wines. The Estate has more than 300 years of tradition of high-quality wine production. In addition to the wine tastings and regional snacks, you can also enjoy a guided tour in the vineyard, wine cellar and savor a wine with wine pairing for two.

Day 2 - Lisbon
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 2nd day of this tour.

The morning will be spent in Quinta da Chocapalha, where agriculture is seen as an activity of great nobility and that values all who embrace this project. The visit will begin with a short walk through the vineyards, where the story of the Tavares da Silva family will be told and where the viticulture process will be explained. Passing through the cellar and the barrel room, where the winemaking process will be explained. Finally, a tasting of 4 wines, accompanied by cheeses, sausages and rusks, and a typical lunch, a great opportunity to taste of the local wines.

After lunch, it will be time to visit Quinta do Monte d'Oiro, known, since the 19th century, as a privileged terroir, where clay-limestone soils, Mediterranean microclimate with Atlantic influence and wind blowing permanently, give the wines a great freshness, elegance and balance. The visit will begin in the vineyard, then through the winery and will end in the tasting room, where the wine tasting will take place, overlooking the cellar of the barrels where the red wines of the property are aged. The tasting of 3 wines, will be accompanied by cheeses and regional cured meats.

In the late afternoon, our chauffeur will take you to the city of Santarém, where you will have free time to stroll and get to know this typical Portuguese city. At the top of a plateau, Santarém is a viewpoint over the fertile region of Lezíria, the Tagus river valley, known for agriculture, cattle breeding and bullfighting art. Visit the Jardim das Portas do Sol and admire the scenery of this natural viewpoint. Look at the Clock Tower from the 19th century, today the Museological Center of Time, and the Church of St. John of Alporão, today Museological Nucleus of Art and Archaeology. Take the trip through the Portuguese Gothic, passing by the Church of Our Lady of Marvila, the Church of Our Lady of Grace and the Church of Santa Clara. Also visit the Church of the Most Holy Miracle.

For dinner, you will have several quality options, regional or gourmet cuisine, in the city of Santarém, the option will be yours! The program suggests the Pigalle restaurant, located in the historic center of the city, with a contemporary cuisine based on new flavors and creativity.

Day 3 - Lisbon
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you on the 3rd day of this tour.

The activities begin at Casa Ermelinda Freitas. It is a family business with almost 100 years of history, passed down from generation to generation, and a reference in wine production in the Setúbal region. You will know the property, where you will discover the details of the old and current winemaking processes, as well as the vineyards where 29 grape varieties are planted. You will visit the Golden Room, where the highest distinctions attributed to Ermelinda Freitas wines are exhibited, an exhibition on the production of cork stoppers, and the wine cellars where 3000 barrels are counted. At the end, you will taste 5 wines accompanied by regional products such as cheese, bread, chorizo, or jams.

After the visit, it will be time for lunch. Our chauffeur will take you to a place of your choice, just ask! We leave you a suggestion, the restaurant Tasca da Avenida, in Setúbal, combines the traditional gastronomy and snacks with flavors of the world. It'll be a great option.

Post lunch, you will have free time to stroll in the city center of Setúbal, where special reference deserve the Convent of Jesus, in Gothic-Manueline style, that houses the City Museum and the Fort of St. Philip, currently converted into an Inn, is a great viewpoint over the city, the Sado River, Troia and the Serra da Arrábida.

During the afternoon, you will visit Quinta do Piloto, home of the wine tradition of four generations of the Cardoso family. Has one of the few wineries that preserves the method with self-vinificating, traditional Palmela, 100% ecological. During the guided tour, you will know the family history and the traditional methods of winemaking in the region. You will visit the tasting room, wine shop and event spaces. You will also enjoy the immense panoramic view over Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, where you will taste 4 Quinta do Piloto wines.

In the late afternoon, after a day full of enogastronomic activities, it will be time to go to the hotel. The program present you two options.

Casa Palmela 5* Hotel, located in the heart of the Arrábida Natural Park, is a house with a history dating back to the 17th century. When choosing this accommodation, you will stay overnight in one of the rooms of the Main House, where you breathe the charm and romanticism of a five-star hotel, surrounded by the stunning nature of the Serra da Arrábida and the histories of a manor house with a unique past. The large rooms come with a bathroom with shower, double bed and garden views. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a treatment at the Spa.

Or, alternatively, the Montado Hotel & Golf Resort 4*. Just 30 minutes south of Lisbon, this modern resort includes an impressive 18-hole golf course. Its restaurant serves international cuisine and features an extensive wine list and lake views of the resort. By opting for this accommodation, you can also enjoy the hotel's Spa before a relaxing evening.

The dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant!

Day 4 - Setúbal
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you through the 4th day of this tour.

Activities will begin at José Maria da Fonseca, located in Azeitão, maintains a wine activity since 1834, the result of the shared passion of a family, that has been able to preserve and protect the memory and prestige of its founder. The visit will begin in the Museum Room, with a brief explanation about the history of the company. After a passage through the garden, you will visit the wine cellars: the Adega da Mata, the Adega dos Teares Novos and the Adega dos Teares Velhos. In the end, you will taste 4 wines and 2 Muscatels.

Lunch will be at the José Maria da Fonseca restaurant, where you will taste the best snacks of the region, accompanied by the most renowned wines of the Setúbal region. 

After lunch, you will visit Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, one of the largest and most innovative wine companies in Portugal. It has developed, over the years, a wide range of wines that has earned it a solid reputation and national and international preference. On a guided tour of the Bacalhôa museum and winery, in Quinta da Bassaqueira, you will have the opportunity to know the history of this house and contemplate the present artistic exhibition. You will end the visit with a wine tasting in the tasting room, from where you can admire the tranquil scenery of the Japanese Garden, in which is exposed part of the work of sculptor Niizuma.

In the late afternoon, it will be time to check in at a new hotel, where dinner will also be served. You can choose the following options:

L'AND Vineyards 5* hotel, an exclusive retreat that integrates modern architecture into nature, providing an atmosphere of sober luxury, natural beauty and tranquility. Located in the heart of Alentejo, in a unique landscape, with interiors designed by Márcio  Kogan  and works of art by Michael  Biberstein, at L'AND Vineyards  you can take a food trip in the restaurant, renew yourself in the Vinotherapy Spa and sleep in the middle of the vineyards under the starry sky of Alentejo.

Alternatively, you will have the hotel M'ar de Ar Muralhas 4*, located in the historic center of the city of Évora, near known Giraldo Square, nerve center of this magnificent city and capital of the kingdom during the early years of the sixteenth century. Here you can enjoy the large landscaped area framed by the historic wall that provides an environment of incomparable beauty. Benefiting from this unique setting is the pool area, the terrace with a high comfort living area, taking full advantage of the famous Alentejo nights and the planetarium that forms on our heads.

Day 5 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you through the 5th day of this tour.

The activities start in one of the most prestigious wineries in Portugal, Adega da Cartuxa - Quinta de Valbom. Located in Quinta de Valbom, 2 km from the historic center of Évora and 200 meters from the Cartuxa Monastery that inspired its name, Cartuxa is in the former Jesuit rest home (Companhia de Jesus), who taught at the University of Évora in the 16th and 17th centuries. You will discover the history and unique surroundings of Quinta de Valbom through a guided tour of the building where the Cartuxa Winery was founded. The activity will culminate with the tasting of 3 wines selected by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, accompanied by typical Alentejo snacks, such as sausages, cheeses and jams from the region.

For lunch, we selected one of the most renowned restaurants in the city of Évora, the 5 Amêndoas restaurant, installed in the Hotel Vitória Stone, where you will enjoy a typical Alentejo lunch, and you can try the best traditional cuisine, with a touch of sophistication, on a menu suggested by the Chef.  

In the afternoon, you will visit Casa Alexandre Relvas, a family business located in the village of S. Miguel de Machede, between Évora and Redondo. The wines are recognized for the excellent price quality ratio, receiving year after year excellent scores by the international specialized critic. On the guided tour of the property you will know the winery, a building entirely covered with cork, and all the processes related to production, the varieties with which they work and learn a little more about the Alentejo region. After the visit, you will enjoy a tasting of Portuguese grape varieties, which consists of the tasting of 4 single grape varieties and a "blend", accompanied by regional snacks.

In the late afternoon, our chauffeur will take you to the city of Évora, where you will have free time to stroll and get to know the city classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and heir to a rich and varied cultural heritage. Whether in the interplay of medieval streets, in the exuberance of palaces, monasteries and churches, Évora hides a charm of its own.

For dinner, you will have a table reserved in the restaurant Enoteca Cartuxa, cultural and wine heritage of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, joins the legacy of Alentejo gastronomy, in the historic center of Évora. Be amazed to discover the perfect harmony between the Cartuxa wines and the regional cuisine, interpreted and reinvented in a current way in a dinner full of traditional Alentejo flavors, chef's suggestion.

Day 6 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you through the 6th day of this tour.

Activities will start at Monte da Ravasqueira, located in the municipality of Arraiolos, where it is produced the best wines of Alentejo. The winery occupies a vast area of typical Alentejo landscape, with excellent geological and climatic conditions for wine production! The visit will begin at the Private Museum of Atrelagens, which pays homage to the creation of Lusitanian Horses and brings together private harnesses and hitching cars from Europe. After that, you will know the vineyards and the imposing winery, where the wines of rest. The activity will end with a tasting of Ravasqueira wines.

For lunch, there are many regional restaurants options in Arraiolos.  The program suggests the 'República do Petisco' restaurant, in the center of the village, where you can enjoy a menu full of typical Alentejo dishes.

After lunch, you will visit Herdade do Freixo, an agricultural company located in northeastern Alentejo, whose main activity is wine production with varieties of high adaptive potential to soil and climate. You will know the winery, owner of a unique architecture, built in depth in a total of 3 floors below the vineyard. At the end of the visit, you will taste 2 premium wines, paired with a board of cheeses and sausages.

At the end of the afternoon, you will have free time to stroll in Évora.

The dinner, a degustation menu, with wine pairing, will take place at The Divinus restaurant, integrated in the Convento do Espinheiro hotel, is one of the best restaurants in Alentejo. It stands out for its traditional author’s cuisine and has a selection of the best Alentejo wines.

After dinner, it will be time to return to the hotel.

Day 7 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you through the 7th day of this tour.

Activities will begin at Herdade do Esporão. You will unlock the secrets of wine production on a visit to the cellars, and test your senses in a tasting with an exercise in aromas. The activities will begin with a visit to know the winemaking process of Esporão wines. Then you will explore your senses through a commented tasting, where you will identify different wine profiles.
For lunch, Herdade do Esporão’s Chef, presents you a cuisine focused on the products and flavors of Alentejo and Portugal, combined with a modern confection and interpretation. Your meal will be entirely in the hands of the Chef, who will define a Tasting Menu of 5 Moments, prepared with seasonal products, from local and national producers, closely following the cycle of each.

After lunch, it will be time to visit Adega da Ervideira. You will visit the winery and follow the entire production process, from the arrival of the grape to the bottling of the wine and its expedition. You will know Ervideira in its essence. After the visit, the wine tasting will follow. There will be several references, among whites, rosés and reds, including "Blind Bottles". These, completely "uncharacterized", will have a wine in common and the challenge is to identify it and match the bottles in taste. You can also sample regional products.

In the late afternoon, our chauffeur will take you back to the city center of Évora, where you will have free time to walk. Dinner will be your choice in one of the city's restaurants. The program suggests a renowned family restaurant, located in the historic center, named "O Fialho", known for the good and genuine regional gastronomy and excellent wines, where the authentic flavors of Alentejo are valued. At the end of dinner, it will be time to return to the hotel. 

Day 8 - Alentejo
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel with the best regional products, our guide will pick you up and drive you through the 8th and last day of this tour.

Activities will start at Quinta do Quetzal, located on the slopes of Vidigueira, known for its wines, diversified wine tourism activities, traditional restaurant, and art center. On the guided tour, you will get to know this unique terroir up close and learn the secrets of wine production in the modern Quetzal Winery. At the end of the visit, you will enjoy a lunch with the best flavors of the Alentejo, accompanied by Quetzal wines.

Post lunch, you will visit João Portugal Ramos, located in Estremoz, Évora, in the heart of Alentejo, is a reference in Portuguese wines. Its winery, in Vila Santa, joins the modern in all the winemaking technology implemented in the wine production processes, with the best Portuguese wine tradition. You will visit the winery and cellars, where you will have the opportunity to know the whole history of this producer, its properties and its wines. After the visit, you will participate in the activity "Being a Winemaker for a Day", where you will create your own batch of wine, and take home a bottle of wine with a personalized label.

At the end of the day, it will be time to return to Lisbon and finish the program. Our guide will leave you in the city center, hotels or at Humberto Delgado Airport.

11:00 p.m. – Guided visit to Quinta d Porto Nogueira, a secular farm with great history, with wine tasting and regional lunch;
04:00 p.m. – Visit to Quinta do Sanguinhal, gardens, vineyards, old distillery, old winepress, and aging cellar, ending with a commented tasting of 6 wines with some rusks, regional cheese and a mini custard tart (Pastel de Nata);
