About the Activity
Cartuxa Wine Tourism is based at Quinta de Valbom,  2km from the centre of the World Heritage city of Evora and just 200m from the Cartuxa Monastery from which it takes its name.  The visitor centre is in the old refectory of the former retreat of the Jesuit Brothers who taught at Evora University in the 16th and 17th centuries. Adega Cartuxa was purchased by the Eugenio de Almeida family in the 19th century, undergoing  a number of extensions and improvements over the years, taking care to preserve its rich architectural and historic integrity.

Discover the history and unique environment of Quinta de Valbom, in a guided visit to the building where Adega Cartuxa was founded.

The visit will end with a tasting of 1 wine produced by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. You may add some region products to tastings, which consist of sausages, cheeses, jams from the region.

“Mucha historia y grandes vinos ” Nuestra visita fue muy informativa. Cartuxa tiene una excelente variedad de vinos y hacen un gran trabajo explicando las variedades de uva que entran en sus premiadas mezclas. La sala de degustación está bien equipada y fue muy agradable ver las diferentes ofertas. Letícia, 25 mai 2021

“Learned so much” We took the tour and wine tasting with some friends. Had a very good time touring the cellars with our guide.
You get to do an aroma test to try and guess the intricacies of the wines. This was a really fun thing to do.
