Monte da Ribeira and Herdadinha properties are located in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Évora, belong to Leal da Costa family, being the first record found in the name of Maria Luísa Godinho N.1807, grandmother of 1º Conde D’Ervideira, which started Ervideira wine production in 1880 (great-grandfather of the current producers).
José Perdigão Rosado de Carvalho received the title of Conde D’Ervideira by King Carlos I, in recognition of his social work in the region, who besides being a great farmer who generated hundreds of jobs, was also a politician, philanthropist, president of Évora Municipality, Casa Pia founder and Santa Casa da Misericórdia member, among other positions.
At first, the wine production was destined to family supply, as well as to join the food and wage payment of the many employees of the agricultural enterprise.
Today, the company has 160 hectares of vineyards, dedicated to wines production and distribution, making Ervideira brand known internationally.
