Quinta de Santa Cristina
Integrated in the Demarcated Region of Vinhos Verdes, subregion of Basto, and located in Celorico de Basto, Quinta de Santa Cristina has a secular history, belonging to the family for many generations.
With about 60 hectares, between vineyard and forest, the wine estate enjoys a unique environment between the hills of Fafe, Marão, Alvão and Cabreira and the right bank of the river Tâmega, which invites to peace and harmony between wines and nature.
In the vineyards, at an altitude between 300 and 400 meters, different grape varieties are planted, which include: Alvarinho, Trajadura, Fernão Pires, Sauvignon Blanc, Azal, Espadeiro, Padeiro (Padeiro de Basto), Arinto (Pedernã), Loureiro, Avesso and Batoca, a typical grape variety of Basto subregion.
Opened in 2013, the winery combines traditional design elements with modern ones, integrating perfectly with the landscape.
Here, at Quinta de Santa Cristina, it is possible to live an authentic experience, which allows you to know the Vinhos Verdes world, nature, heritage, culture and local gastronomy.
At the estate, there are some attraction points, that are included in the guided tours, such as: vineyards, winery, Camelias garden, Santa Cristina chapel, a fruit orchard, forest and a small stream.
Winner of “Best of Wine Tourism 2017” award, by Great Wine Capitals, Quinta de Santa Cristina provides many activities for the guests: guided tour through the vineyards to the winery, wine tasting, regional products tasting, planting of a vine, walking trails, regional picnic, 4x4 tour through the vineyards. Besides, there are some regional partners who provide other experiences like rafting, horse ride or visit to an 11th century castle.
