Quinta Madre de Água

Surrounded by beautiful vineyards inserted in the Dão region, the Madre de Água Rural Hotel was opened in November 2012, and it is the ideal getaway for those who want to relax. Located in Gouveia, near the village of Vinhó, and just a few minutes from the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, this family hotel is a dream come true for its owners.

The main structure of the building is built with sober and resistant materials, maintaining the tradition of granite and wood, alternating with large and modern walls and glass windows. The rooms and common area’s decor are welcoming, and its soft colors, ranging from earth tones, white and violet. It has 10 cosy rooms – all with names of Portuguese grape varieties – and, for those who want more privacy, a flat and a studio are available a little farther from the hotel. Comfort is evident, as well as the service quality and friendliness of a specialized team, always helpful.

Madre de Água’s restaurant was born with a concept of traditional cuisine based on the flavours of the region that are kept since its grand opening. The menu includes various specialities, the most popular being the roasted lamb on a shale dish, the lamb stew with root vegetable and sautéed cabbage and the grilled loaf of veal.

Madre de Água is located in the Dão region, producing some of the finest national wines, holders of great quality and elegance. Its history, its contrasts, its vineyards surrounded by a range of mountains that protect them from external influences, give these wines unique characteristics of aroma and flavour.
